About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for reading about my practice. It can be a big decision to find a therapist who is right for you. It may be a good idea to meet a few therapists before you choose. I offer an introductory session (at a concession rate of £55), so that you can see what working with me is like.
I am an experienced, BACP Accredited and Registered Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist for individuals. My private practice is in East Sheen London SW14 (near Richmond, Putney and Barnes), where I have been offering affordable support for fifteen years.
At an initial session, I will ask you about your reasons for coming to counselling and we will talk about the help you need. An introductory session is a way to think about going forward in your life and the changes you would like to make. Usually clients say that it is a relief to talk about what is on their minds and turn to counselling expertise and support.
You may feel nervous about opening up to me or not be sure that counselling is right for you. An initial session will help you decide about going ahead.
In our first meeting (sessions are 55 minutes), you will find that I help you to give me an overview of your history, your family, significant people and events and any losses in your life. You may not be ready to tell me about some things straightaway but as we continue to meet, it will get easier, to talk about problems you have carried alone, for a long time.
You can decide from week to week if you want a further session or we can agree on a treatment period for you; it will depend on what works for you and I can offer feedback on this. Any questions you have, please ask. We can talk about that on an introductory call or in your initial booking.
I now offer in person, online video or telephone sessions. You can choose or have a mix, depending on your circumstances.
Practice description
The focus is on you and I help you talk about yourself, in a relaxed, conversational session. We'll explore the issues on your mind and how they affect your life. We'll look at relationships you may have that help or harm you. In our search, we'll find out about your early experiences and how they may still weigh on you, holding you back from progressing and having the future you want.
My way of working is a traditional psychotherapy; my training background has covered psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, a relational approach and working in a person-centred way.
Beccy Lindsay, BACP Accredited and Post-graduate UKCP Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, CRUSE Accredited & ICO Registered.
East Sheen counselling room - Introductory session, £55, continuing sessions, £65 per session (concessions negotiable).
I have a custom-built counselling room which is a welcoming and comfortable setting, with good facilities and wheelchair access.
My first session
How do I start?
The first step is to email me or call me and I will offer you an introductory session. In the introduction, we can talk about how I can help, and how you would like to take counselling forward.
Talking about what has happened to you in your life is part of freeing yourself to progress and live the life you want in the future.
If there is more information you would like please don't hesitate to contact me or ask for a call, to talk things over. I'm always glad to answer questions and you can find out about counselling with me, to help you decide if you want to book an introductory session.
