About me and my therapy practice
As an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist I work with a wide variety of emotional issues offering a respectful, sensitive environment where you can explore any difficulties. I also supervise counsellors and health care professionals.
I will work with you to explore the difficulties you may be experiencing to help us understand what might be occurring and how best to bring about change. I will listen, without judgement, so that you feel fully heard and understood. Counselling can bring up some difficult feelings and is not always easy; I will be a supportive companion to you through this process.
As a senior accredited member of BACP I have extensive training and experience and I aim to offer you the best, professional counselling service I can. I use a variety of counselling models to best tailor the therapy to your needs; I have training in psychodynamic, person-centred, trauma counselling, CBT and adoption counselling.
I offer short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy. I offer therapy to counselling students during their training.
Practice description
My practice is located in Hemel Hempstead within easy reach of the railway station.
I have a dedicated counselling room with its own access - it is a downstairs room, with one small step over the threshold.
Free parking is available in the street.
I offer face to face sessions as well as remote sessions via video conferencing or telephone.
My first session
I appreciate that seeking counselling can be difficult and it is important to feel comfortable with your therapist.
The first session is a chance for me to meet you and understand what is troubling you to assess if I can help, it is also an opportunity for you to meet me and see if you feel I am the right therapist for you.
Also at this first session we will discuss the counselling agreement between us and what you are looking for through counselling.
I usually suggest starting with 6 sessions to help us see how we work together and then there will be an opportunity to review to decide whether you would like more sessions.

My first session
The first supervision session will be an exploration of your needs and supervision requirements and we will formulate a working agreement from this. This will also give us the chance to work out if I am the right supervisor for you. We will work out expectations of supervision and responsibilities.
For trainee counsellors it is best practice to have at least one supervision session before you see clients so that we can work out our contract and I can support you with starting with clients.
