About me and my therapy practice
I design courses and train participants in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which includes latest research and development such as CFT (Compassion Focus Therapy). My courses include learning about the vital impact of past trauma on present problems like anxiety and depression. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist with many years training in the most effective approaches, which can be helpfully employed in short and longer-term work. I aim to pass on my knowledge and experience to graduate psychotherapists and counsellors through these training courses.

Availability
I can offer both Face2Face sessions in my consulting room in Norwich and online therapy sessions (usually via Zoom or FaceTime). My working hours are generally between 10am and 6.30pm (with some exceptions). If you have any flexibility about days/times when you're available it's easier to arrange an initial session more quickly although at times my diary may be full. Then I will let you know if I have no availability. When you have contacted me I send you some further information and an agreement about confidentiality and cancellations which I ask you to sign. After we have arranged an initial appointment I send you directions and ways of making payment.
About me and my therapy practice
My practice is integrative which means I draw on a range of therapy models. My first training was in Psychosynthesis (1993). Since then I have trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma informed therapies such as Compassion Focus Therapy and Coherence Therapy, Systemic Therapy for couples and families and Solution-Focused Therapy. I start by working with you to get a real understanding of your difficulties. Then we can move forward to identify the most effective ways in which to bring about positive change and improvement.
Practice description
I have many years experience working as a psychotherapist for the NHS, a variety of services (the police, NHS staff, trainee doctors and clinicians, MIND, voluntary organisations, university and training courses, insurance companies etc) and with individuals and couples in private practice.
I am also a published author with a PhD in critical and creative writing.
Individual sessions are £60.00
Couple sessions are £75.00
My first session
In the initial session I seek to get a real understanding of yourself, your background, experience and history, as well as any health issues, losses or traumatic life events which have had an impact on you. We will pay attention to your most pressing issues in the present, at the same time as giving consideration to any past events which may continue to cause you trouble. Anxiety, panic attacks and depression are often warning signs that your life is out of balance in some way so it's important to make sense of what they're telling us. Then we can work together to bring about beneficial change or direction which has been thought through and decided on by you. The sessions also give you an opportunity to identify what are the most helpful and effective ways of achieving your aims, building confidence and self-esteem, improving your relationships, reducing self-destructive habits and negative self-talk.

About me and my therapy practice
I have many years experience and knowledge of working as an integrative psychotherapist for different services such as the police, NHS staff and clinicians, trainee doctors, Youth Organisations, Employee Assistance Programmes, Education and the Voluntary Sector. I supervise individuals and groups which have included MIND, St Barnabas Counselling Service and currently The Sue Lambert Trust. The impact and long-term effects of trauma have been a particular focus of my work, as well as the processing and healing from emotional injury. I have also trained in the most effective psychotherapeutic approaches which I have integrated into a practice which is beneficial for both long- and short-term therapy.
Practice description
Therapists often come to supervision with different needs and aims - educational, ethical, supportive, for instance - so we would start by identifying what's most important to you to make your supervision really worthwhile. My diploma in Integrative Supervision (Minster Centre, London, 2007) has led to my working compatibly with therapists trained in different approaches. It is often ethical dilemmas, boundary issues or relational dynamics which cause therapists difficulties. Supervision can be a supportive and creative forum in which to achieve new perspectives and insights which clarify these tangles and benefit our clients and ourselves.
