About me and my therapy practice
Family is the core of our existence. We all carry baggage from our childhoods but how we live as adults can sometimes conflict with the rules or values with which we were raised, so what parts of what our families taught us do we hold on to and what do we let go?
Every family has an emotional legacy as well as positive feelings parents also inadvertently transfer negative feelings; these often can be our subconscious emotional legacy.
Therapy offers the space to take a more conscious look at it, providing a choice to decide what is relevant and what is not.
Often someone’s own personal struggle shows a pattern that was formed a generation ago, or even further back in the past. Finding your own path is an important step towards maturity giving your own meaning to your life and creating your own happiness.
I work with individuals, couples and families to improve communication skills, help build self-confidence and for better relationships with themselves and others.
Sometimes life’s challenges can feel overwhelming and hard to manage – it’s difficult to know what to do and where to turn, my long-standing experience as a counselor can help you talk about the difficulties that you are facing in your life.
The way I work is termed ‘integrative.’ This means that I can draw upon a range of relational and types of therapeutic approaches to the meet individual needs of my clients.
I have many years experience working with mental health in the public and charitable sectors helping clients to build and expand on their unique qualities and strengths to attain their full potential through a creative, non-judgmental and sensitive approach.
I am a registered member of BACP and abide by the code of ethics and good practice.
