About me and my therapy practice
A qualified counsellor since 1998 I take an integrative approach to my clients, adapting therapy to suit your individual, couple or family needs at my practice in Ringwood. I take pride in being down to earth, calm, non-judgemental and highly empathic and work from an understanding that who we are how and we make sense of our lives is informed by our past patterns and behaviours. I adapt what I do to meet your unique experience, enabling you to gain self-awareness and use the difficulties that life naturally brings to create growth and change. My experience has been gained through private practice, community counselling, GP counselling and Relate, a national relationship support company as both a counsellor and supervisor.
I offer an initial 15 minute free telephone consultation to answer any questions that you might have. Thank you.
Practice description
My practice is located in a private purpose made chalet with parking available in the drive or along the roadside adjacent to the practice. I provide hourly sessions for individuals at a cost of £50 and longer sessions for couples at £60 per hour, 2 hours for the first session then 90 minutes every other week. Sessions are generally face to face, however I do have clients who live further away or struggle with childcare where on-line counselling is preferred.
My first session
The first session consists of an initial assessment of 1 hour for individuals and 2 hours for couples or families.
• The assessment will enable clients to gain a sense of what counselling involves and how it will help them. It is an opportunity to raise concerns and discuss the practicalities of counselling.
• I will make an assessment of the client’s presenting problems and difficulties and decide with the clients, the goals of counselling and areas to work on.
• More importantly, the initial assessment is designed for you to make an appraisal of me as a counsellor and to decide if you can work with me.
• Attending an initial assessment does not mean that you are obliged to continue on to counselling sessions.
