About me and my therapy practice
Central to my role as an Accredited BACP Counsellor and Psychotherapist is my wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of psychotherapy treatment for over 24 years, most of which has been in providing treatment within the NHS and my private practice.
It is important for clients to know that I am highly experienced in working with people from a cross range of culture's needs and ethnic backgrounds. I am also open and honest with patients to ensure trust in building a working therapeutic relationship, to ensure the desired goals of all patients is paramount to the therapeutic intervention I provide. I specialise in treating depression and working with various degrees of post trauma disorders: low mood, low self-esteem, childhood and adulthood trauma, anger difficulties, fears and high anxiety, sexual/physical abuse and domestic abuse, isolation family and relationship difficulties, experience/difficulties around loss and bereavement.
In 1999, I qualified in as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist in an Integrative therapy model, (person-centred/existential counselling model). I later trained in cognitive behavioural therapy, systemic family therapy, solution-focused therapy and counselling for depression (CFD) experiential model.
What Can You Expect from Your Treatment
Starting therapy may appear challenging if you are beginning therapy for the first time. However therapy is a natural place in which a person heals from psychological or emotional difficulties with a reflective and non directive space where the innate feelings are able to resurface and explored in this holding space, where development through this therapy occurs. You can expect to find counselling liberating, and a place where investing in your emotional well-being a valuable process in accessing and being ones true self.
Thank you kindly for your time.
My Best Wishes,
Cheryl C Clarke
Practice description
Personal Investment of Therapy
The opportunity to invest in ones mental health is essential to daily life. Good mental health is in fact the key to psychological freedom and psychological successful. The humanistic model of therapy which I provide is a confidential therapeutic space where a person is able to talk, confidentially and safely about life difficulties that may have affected ones self value or self esteem for many years. Through this talking therapy, an individual's organismic self, (true thoughts and feelings) is given the therapeutic environment surface where individuals are able to hear their true thoughts and feelings. Ones honesty in therapy, is essential for clients to achieve personal goals. Individuals can be assured of a non-judgemental, empathetic and honest clinical space to feel free to express difficult emotions, such as rage, anger, low self-esteem/worth, guilt or shame.
My first session
You can expect the space in your first session to be respected and heard alongside the ability to hear what you are expressing where your feelings are causing you pain. You will be able to work at your own pace, and you will not be judged for who you are but have the opportunity where you can feel confident, your story is confidential. The space to tell your story is yours and you can feel free to express your feelings in the context of how they are affecting you and hearing that back from me, so at the end of the session, you are better able to hear, listen or understand yourself.
