About me and my therapy practice
Integrative Therapist with over 17 years experience with a special interest in anxiety counselling.
Whether you are experiencing overwhelming circumstances, long-standing problems, or a general discontent with life, I am qualified to help you.
I have accredited status with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (to become accredited/registered we have to undertake extensive training courses and clinical hours with clients and gaining accreditation status recognises the achievement of high standards of knowledge and experience).
- Do you feel unable to talk to anyone about how you’re feeling for fear of being judged or perhaps burdening them somehow? Or do you find the people around you minimise or are clumsy when you try to tell them what you are going through/feeling? Or do you worry that your problem, concern or difficulty is not ‘big enough’ or ‘serious enough’ to warrant help and support? Are you tired of putting a front on that everything is ok?
- Is anxiety affecting your life? Are you overwhelmed in your professional or personal life? Are you sad/grieving and feel unable to cope? Are there too many demands on you? Have a lot of changes happened in your life?
Isn't it strange that we sometimes talk the least about the things we think about the most? Counselling is a good place to start talking things out. I provide a confidential, non-judgmental space to allow you to build trust enough to let me help you.
I can help you move out of anxiety/distress/sadness, feel calmer, less burdened and more productive. I listen to you fully but I don't 'just' listen I work hard alongside you to find hope/solutions.

Practice description
I am available to see clients either in person or via telephone.
In person Counselling - takes place at a therapy room in Ramsbottom town centre.
Telephone Counselling - Phone Counselling means I can work with you from wherever you are in the UK. There are many benefits to having your therapy by phone including:
- No travel time and expenses incurred attending your counselling appointments.
- Therapy can take place wherever you can create a comfortable and confidential space.
- More accessible, for example, to people with disabilities, long term illnesses or who don’t have child care.
- Some people choose phone therapy as they like to go walking while they talk.
For these reasons and more, or for people who just want the convenience and comfort of their own home, phone therapy is now becoming a popular alternative to face to face counselling.
My first session
If you decide to book in with me we will have an initial full 50 minute appointment. This is so that you can talk about what is bringing you to counselling and what you hope to achieve and also allows me time to assess if I am the right person to help you. This also gives you time to decide if you want to work with me.
If, after the first appointment, you decide to go ahead with counselling:
I offer short term (6-12 sessions) and long term (open ended) counselling. Whichever you decide I encourage you, in the first instance, to commit to working together for an initial period of 6 weeks before realistically evaluating the effectiveness of therapy. This is to allow time to build our relationship and gives time for me to have a clear understanding of what you are bringing to therapy and how I might help you.
Sessions are usually weekly on the same day/time however this can be negotiated if required/appropriate.
Sometimes, it might be that you want a one-off session or we only need a few sessions, there is no obligation.
What I can help with
Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Loss, Menopause, Mood disorder, OCD, Personal development, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
