About me and my therapy practice
I am a MBACP Accred therapist offering a safe and consistent environment - a space to be yourself in the moment, to be heard, listened to and able to explore the issues that have brought you to counselling.
I have years of experience working within the community in GP surgeries, counselling agencies and private practice. I work integratively informed by existential philosophical principles.
Call me if you wish to arrange an initial session.
Practice description
I offer a warm, welcoming and accepting space in which trust can develop. A space to be yourself and explore the issues which have brought you to seek therapy. I encourage practical and contextual thinking, as well as psychological insight. This combination can be very helpful in the here and now world, whilst also allowing understanding of the past and its impact on current events. An opportunity to review and re-tell one's story in a meaningful and comprehensive manner can free us from imposed narratives.
My first session
I ask clients to have an initial session so they can ascertain if they wish to work with me. If so, we will sign a mutually binding and agreed contract clarifying frequency, payment, cancellations etc.

I am supervising professionals with their own private practice, as well as individuals working in community based organisations. Furthermore, I supervise trainee counsellors at the point of seeing placement clients.
About me and my therapy practice
I work within an integrative model using psychodynamic theory underpinning an Existentialist view of life. This allows for a broad approach to historical and societal influences on our current experience.
Practice description
I emphasise that I believe one of the strengths of my approach is being able to apply a wide range of critical, philosophical, social, theoretical, imaginative and spiritual criteria when looking at client work. Organisational context and beliefs can often affect (both, beneficially and detrimentally) our management of client work and how we develop as counsellors - I never ignore or minimise them.
I encourage the exploration of the counsellor's background and experience to inform and trust in themselves, therefore building congruence. This, in turn, feeds the therapeutic alliance and makes for more rewarding work and outcome.
My first session
I would expect supervisees to furnish me with background information, where they are in their professional development and to sign a mutually binding contract.
