About me and my therapy practice
I am a Person Centred Children’s counsellor with over 18 years experience of working with local children and families. I fully understand how difficult it is being a parent/Carer to children and adolescents. Often, we as Parents we try our very best but sometimes we do need to reach out and ask for help. This is the first step of that journey by reading this and thinking about some family support.
I understand that it’s very hard sometimes the thought of talking to a stranger about your feelings, but I work in a calm environment in a private garden room which is relaxing and safe. I always work face-to-face and walk alongside the client, so they can make their own decisions with the aim to make them feel more confident. I use props and art work to help the child to express themselves in a creative way.
I am a fully registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and additionally hold professional qualifications in safeguarding, I’m also DBS cleared, Fully insured and have regular one-to-one supervision.
My broad experience in Person centred counselling currently continues to grow from working with families and children in several of the schools within Cumbria with a varied age ranges from Nursery children to sixth form students.
Practice description
My counselling space is a isolated garden room which is away from my home offering total privacy.
Each weekly session is one hour and is face-to-face. Initially, Parents/Carers are encouraged into the session to meet me and help the child feel safe and settled. Once the child is happy and comfortable each session will be tailored to their individual needs and requirements.
My first session
I offer an initial free consultation over the telephone, this is to provide you with a brief understanding of how counselling could work for you and your family.
During this session will briefly cover what brought you to counselling, and how we can work together to make a plan for the child.
This initial telephone conversation will also give you the chance to ask any questions that you may have.
If you are happy with all the information and wish to proceed we can make an appointment over the phone using the details provided.
