About me and my therapy practice
Your wellbeing is my priority. I am an experienced, BACP registered, counsellor and Internal Family Systems (“IFS”) Therapist with a private practice in Lewes offering professional, safe, and confidential counselling and IFS therapy for adults (18 plus) face to face and online. I have worked for the NHS, in a variety of charitable settings, and for Axa PPP.
Most people come to see me at a time of crisis or “stuck-ness” and I see these moments in life as opportunities for growth and transformation. Sometimes this may result in a client wanting to make changes in their life and at other times space to talk, a different perspective, or different coping strategies are all that they need. I trained as a counsellor after having had a very positive experience of counselling at a difficult time in my life and it is this experience that I wish to give my clients. I have also recently trained in IFS which is a safe and effective way of working with many issues, including childhood trauma.
I provide a calm, caring, safe, and supportive space in which you can explore what is working and what is not, and process difficult feelings in a manageable way. I will work collaboratively with you to discover the best way forward for you at a pace which is attuned to your needs. Some clients only need a few sessions and others want to work longer term. I also offer ongoing support by offering fortnightly, monthly or occasional top up sessions.
Practice description
I have a varied practice and work both face to face from a large airy room in the centre of Lewes, and online. I specialise in working with clients who have had difficult childhoods and have specialist training in boarding school recovery and family estrangement.
My first session
In your first session you will be able to talk about the issues that are concerning you, see how you feel with me, and ask any questions you might have. It is normal to feel nervous and I will do my best to put you at your ease. Often people worry about long awkward silences and to reassure you whilst I will give you space and time to express yourself I won’t leave you in an uncomfortable silence. Another concern you might have is filling the time - this is also normal and my experience is that most clients find the time passes more quickly than they expected.
It is a good idea to allow yourself some time before and after the session to prepare and process if that is possible.
We will talk about how I might be able to help you, how long that may take, and you will get a chance to see if I am the right counsellor for you. You might want to talk to me on the phone before meeting me so do please ask and it’s absolutely fine to come to the initial session without having done that.
If you need a concessionary rate you can also discuss that with me at the first session, or by email, or phone, beforehand if you prefer. Clients paying the full feel enable me to offer a lower rate to clients who are unable to afford that.
I charge £60 for the initial one hour session. My standard rate is £70 a session.
