About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes the hardest part of counselling is getting started; if you’re reading this then you’ve already taken a big step forward. Welcome to my profile page, I hope I can help you with what you’re looking for.
My name is Julie and I’m an accredited integrative counsellor and clinical supervisor.
Counselling offers the opportunity to talk through situations, understand and express feelings. You can expect a comfortable, safe and relaxed space where we can develop a therapeutic relationship built on trust and respect. Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I'll listen and support you towards finding clarity and making the changes you need. We can look at alternative coping strategies and practical solutions if you wish.
Before I became a counsellor, I worked as a nurse within the NHS for many years. My experience was in women's health, sexual health and health visiting where I worked with children and families. Although I no longer work as a health professional, I feel my background provides a good foundation for working with people in a caring, respectful way to support them with the personal and sensitive issues they are facing.
I am able to offer face to face sessions ; I can also offer you online or telephone sessions. This may seem strange at first but these sessions can be just as effective as face to face working. Many people are experiencing raised levels of anxiety, stress and worry at this time; I can offer you support by listening and helping you to work through your concerns.
Practice description
As an integrative counsellor I am able to combine several therapeutic approaches rather than working from a single theoretical model. This allows me to find the most helpful way to work with you as an individual.
I can also offer EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) if you are struggling with a trauma. EMDR is a specific therapy that helps overcome memories of trauma such as accidents or injury; it is also an effective therapy for treating phobias.

About me and my therapy practice
Having the right supervisor is as important as your clients having the right counsellor. The supervisory relationship underpins the quality of the work we do together.
I supervise trainee and qualified counsellors as well as being a group supervisor within a voluntary agency. My experience has been gained both in a private and voluntary setting, with supervisees ranging from very new trainees to experienced qualified counsellors.
I am an approved supervisor for university students doing a Foundation Degree in counselling. I am happy to provide reports without additional charge and support for viva voce examinations for trainees.
Practice description
I combine aspects of several supervision models to provide a more integrative approach to my supervision practice. I can adapt my approach in line with the model of therapy you are using. My first session
I offer a free introductory session where we can talk through your supervision expectations and requirements. This also offers an opportunity to decide whether we could work together in a way that fits your needs.
