Availability
In line with the digital era, I have embraced online platforms as the primary mode of therapeutic practice. This shift was particularly emphasised during the COVID-19 lockdown measures. Online therapy has proven to be highly effective and offers numerous benefits. However, depending on individual needs, I have limited availability for in-person treatment or a combination of online and in-person sessions.
About me and my therapy practice
Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with extensive experience operating in a private practice setting, holding a Master of Science degree in Counselling from the University of Abertay Dundee.
My particular broad field of interest is wellbeing and social connection.
I want you to know that therapy is a collaborative and transformative process, and it's perfectly normal to have a range of emotions and questions as we begin this journey. I'm here to help you navigate your concerns, promote personal growth, and work towards positive life changes. Together, we will explore your unique experiences, develop coping strategies, and work towards achieving the goals you've set for yourself.
I'm committed to building a good working relationship to help you get the best from therapy.
Practice description
I will work flexibly and collaboratively within the available time, tailoring sessions to your unique experiences and needs, ensuring a personalised approach to healing.
Modes of Therapy
Online Therapy: Offering flexible, accessible therapy right from the comfort of your home. Experience seamless therapy with the aid of technology, without compromising on quality.
Face-to-Face Therapy: Dive deeper into therapy with in-person sessions, fostering stronger connections, deeper understanding, and a sensory-rich therapeutic experience.
Clients can self-refer, and I also have partnerships with several private medical insurers, including Aviva, AXA Health, Bupa, Cigna Healthcare and WPA Healthcare.
My first session
Welcome to Your First Therapy SessionI want to begin by welcoming you to your first therapy session. It's an essential step towards taking care of your mental and emotional wellbeing, and I want to assure you that I'm here to provide you with a safe and supportive space.
Confidentiality and Trust
Your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance. Everything we discuss during our sessions will remain confidential unless you express an immediate risk to yourself or others. Trust is a crucial foundation of our therapeutic relationship, and I'm committed to maintaining that trust throughout our work together.
Introduction and Setting Goals
In this initial session, we'll take some time to get to know each other. We will explore what has brought you to therapy, and discuss your goals and expectations for our time together.
Assessment and Background Information
To better understand your unique experiences and needs, I'll ask some questions about your personal history, and any previous experiences you have had with therapy or counselling. This information helps me tailor our approach to your individual circumstances.
Exploration of Current Concerns
We'll delve into the issues that have been bothering you or causing distress. This discussion will help us identify the main areas where you would like support and change.
Clarifying Expectations
I will explain the therapeutic process and my approach to counselling. We'll discuss the types of therapy or techniques that might be most beneficial for your specific concerns. We'll also clarify the frequency and duration of sessions.
Building a Therapeutic Alliance
Therapy is a collaborative process, and I'm here to work with you.
Homework and Next Steps
At the end of the session, we may set some goals and discuss potential homework assignments or tasks that can support your progress between sessions.
