Hi there, I’m Kathryn, an Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Accredited CBT Therapist and EMDR Therapist. I am happy to arrange a free telephone consultation discuss how I can help.
I specialise in helping adults with trauma or PTSD / c-PTSD, attachment or relationship issues, OCD, anxiety, low self-esteem social anxiety, and depression. As well as other difficulties people may be facing. I aim to help people who are feeling 'stuck' and want to make changes to improve the way they feel about themselves. This may involve working on your history or staying in the present, learning new ways to manage and recover from emotional difficulties.
I have 15 years experience delivering therapy and building relaxed supportive therapeutic relationships with short and long term clients. My goal is to help you gain an awareness of yourself and your difficulties, to help you reach your goals. I am focused on your needs and will tailor your therapy to meet these.
I am based in the Gosforth / Kenton area of Newcastle upon Tyne and I use an integrated therapy approach in order to meet your needs most appropriately. I work with people aged 18+.
My qualifications:
• BACP Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (2009)
• BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) (2011)
• Eye Movement Densensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) (2017)
• Certificate in Couples Counselling (2019)
I also offer Couples Counselling. It is through the safe space that counselling provides, that you will decide what the future holds for you both.

I have worked both within the NHS and within private practice since 2007. I have always enjoyed supervision and have had very good feedback from Supervisees. I am more didactic, rather than socratic, in supervision style. However, I like to work as a team to help my supervisees leave with answers to their questions and a plan for their clients.
I also strongly believe in the restorative nature of supervision and open and honest feedback to ensure supervision is as effective as possible for you.
Supervision is integral to our roles; for our development and to ensure ethical and competent practice, which is at the heart of what I like to offer.
