About me and my therapy practice
Supervision is paramount to a counsellors role as it allows practitioners space and time to reflect on their practice. It demonstrates adherence to ethical practice and safeguards that as a therapist you are working within your competency and your limits of proficiency as a practitioner, which gives a layer of protection to your clients and to you as a therapist and allows you to learn, grow and enhance your professional practice. Regular supervision is pivotal to informing your practice and assisting you in processing your client work and encourages greater reflection and clarity of your own feelings at a deeper level regarding your relationships with clients and with yourself both on a professional and personal level.
I have been a BACP registered counsellor for 18 years. I am an Accredited member of the BACP. I have a Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision. I also have an Extended Certificate in Online and Telephone Supervision. I am a person-centred counsellor, EMDR therapist and gestalt therapist. I am based in Oswestry, Shropshire. I provide supervision sessions either face to face, online or telephone.
As a supervisor I offer my supervisees a collaborative working relationship where I fully support them in their demanding work as therapists, where not only are their clients central to their supervision sessions but also my supervisees learning, growth and development as practitioners are considered fundamental element of our supervision work together.
I have a Certificate in Integrative Counselling, a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, an Advanced Diploma in Gestalt therapy, a Master’s degree in Counselling Studies, I have a Certificate in couples and relationship counselling, I am a certified EMDR therapist. I have been a qualified person centred counsellor for 18 years, in that time I have worked as a counsellor in a variety of settings including healthcare, hospice care, mental health, schools, colleges, and private practice.
I worked for 13+ years as a family counsellor in a children’s hospice and provided clinical supervision to nurses and occupational therapists and other health care workers. I have 5 years experience of supervising counsellors and therapists and healthcare professionals both face to face and online. As well as supervising counsellors who work with adults, I also have experience of supervising counsellors who work with children and young people in a variety of settings including schools, colleges and private practice.
My first session
Supervision is fundamental to a counsellors role as a practitioner. Finding a supervisor that you can trust and feel safe with is a vital component to the success of any supervisory relationship, therefore I offer you a free initial introductory half hour meeting either face to face or online to see if we would be a good fit to work together. The introductory meeting will provide us with an opportunity to meet each other and a time for us discuss how I can support you in your particular role as a counsellor/therapist or healthcare professional. The meeting is also a time for you to ask me questions you may have about my supervision service. Please contact me today if you would like to arrange an introductory meeting.
