About me and my therapy practice
Welcome. I am Paula and I have been a qualified counsellor since 2007. During our lives we can all encounter times of difficulties and challenges, changes in mood, thoughts and feelings. I offer clients a safe, non-judgemental and confidential place in which to explore these concerns and challenges. In the process enabling them to work through and reconnect with themselves with a greater understanding and compassion.
My core training was in person centred therapy, which empowers the client to find their own answers and inner resources to the situations they bring to counselling. I ensure each client is acknowledged as an individual with their own individual concerns, emotions and experiences. Following my training I have continued to train in other areas of therapeutic work. This knowledge and experience I bring to the sessions to ensure I can work alongside side you safely and effectively.
I acknowledge past experiences and trauma can impact on our present emotional wellbeing. Sometimes these emotions can take us by surprise and be unsettling. Counselling can give you the place to explore this, see patterns emerging and find within yourself ways of understanding the impact your past experience can have on life now. Then after developing your own ways of understanding exploring how to move forward with renewed self-awareness and confidence.
Since qualifying I have continued my own development and training, to ensure my practice is safe and ethical
I have experience within the NHS as a nurse for many years and also as a counsellor working with clients who have experienced pregnancy related problems and loss. I have also worked with NHS staff who are psychologically impacted by their day to day work.Practice description
