About me and my therapy practice
Offering a blend of modalities tailored to individual needs, having trained Psychodynamically & Integratively including Attachment based therapy. My niche is long term support dedicated to helping clients with complicated trauma, but not limited to long term. My developed style of counselling help is not strictly psychodynamic, using a more person centred approach generally. Empathic understanding, Congruence & Unconditional Positive Regard (Non-Judgmental position) at the heart of my approach. Having supported clients from 6 sessions to a number of years, I am open to clients who are looking for short term solutions as well as long term.
Whether you are looking for help with trust issues, loss, including redundancy, loss of a pet, loss of home, loss of a part of your physicality, loss of material belongings, loss of relationships, to name a few. Struggles with lying (your own or others), faithfulness (your own or others), emotional therapy can help with so many problems you may encounter.
Personal therapy can also help with feelings related to abandonment, personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder, DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), narcissism, dependent personality, and avoidant personality.
Young people experiencing anxiety and depression, gender identity confusion and/or acceptance & Older people struggling with the concept of retirement, physical changes and loneliness, help is available.
Help for stress management, OCD & intrusive thoughts, addictions, family issues, bereavement including complicated bereavement which incorporates losing loved ones due to violence and trauma including complicated trauma, which also addresses trauma suffered within family situations.
Supporting individuals in their goals to find inner peace, strength, self-growth and understanding, acceptance and management of difficult emotional & mental health issues.
Practice description
Offering warmth & experience gained working with issues such as trauma, childhood trauma including abuse, low self-esteem, self-harm, depression, generalised anxiety disorder, separation anxiety, health anxiety, psychosomatic illness and pain, bereavement and loss. I've been privileged to have be entrusted to help so many people regain control over their mental, emotional & physical well being over the last 11 years.
With a calming influence & ability to promote a sense of ease in clients with past trauma issues, depression, anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, PTSD & more, I offer flexibility on how therapy is delivered using a blend of modalities, recognising one size does not fit all.
Face to face counselling locally from my own little counselling room accessed at the side of my house, I also have parking space opposite and public transport access very close by. There is a bus which stops two minutes from my house & the train station is a 15 minute walk away.
Online sessions are available through Zoom if this is your preference and telephone sessions are also possible.
We are all different in so many ways and experience life events differently as a result. As unique individuals, each person has the right to be heard & helped if they seek it. You are every bit as entitled to access help which is affordable and accessible to you as anyone else. Regardless of what your presenting problem is; it is relative to your unique set of circumstances & I will treat you with respect and kindness.
Clients have ranged in age from Teens to Septuagenarian & have been diverse in gender, culture, creed, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical and learning ability. Anyone who experiences the world and their emotions/thoughts differently to others (Neurodiversity).
I offer an honest and open space for my clients to feel able to talk about whatever they feel they want to share, in confidence and without judgement and that about sums it up.
My first session
At your first assessment session, you will receive an honest and warm discussion about your expectations of the therapeutic relationship. We will cover regularity/term of sessions, discuss the fee, your preferences, and you will have the opportunity to tell me what has brought you to see me, although you are not under pressure to tell me more than you feel comfortable with.
This first meeting will also be an opportunity for you and I to introduce ourselves and see if we both feel I would be the right counsellor for you.
This assessment session is offered at the reduced rate of £40 payable in advance and will be at least as long as a regular session, 50 minutes, but may take a bit longer if you have a lot you would like to cover.
NB: Although my starting fee is listed at £55 per session, I do offer a small discount for block bookings of 4 sessions. I also have a concessionary space, currently filled, but I am happy to add you to a waiting list for this.
Fortnightly sessions are also possible, offered at the full fee.
I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office and will take the correct precautions to protect your personal information.

About me and my therapy practice
Now completed my course training but still gaining practice hours and awaiting my final assessment result. At this point, I continue to offer reduced rates until I receive my certificate, either December this year or January 2025. Offering a starting rate of £40 for the hour, rising to £55 once I receive my certificate. An hour and a half is currently £60, rising to £75 once I have the certificate.
Working with other professionals is quite different from working therapeutically with clients and brings a new dimension to my working life which I am enjoying very much.
I offer a good history of knowledge and now also new knowledge to bring forward, helping other counsellors with their client work.
My Supervision practice is informed by the BACP Ethical Guidance and the 7 Eyed model of Supervision, the one most often used by Supervisors.
As an Integrative Counsellor, initially trained in Psychodynamic Counselling, consideration of unconscious processes is ever present in the work we would be doing together.
My approach: We are two professionals working to a common purpose is in service of the client. You are key to this process and I will also pay attention to what is going on for you in support of you and your practice.
There is an educational aspect to supervision for those newly qualified as counsellors. Those who've been in practice a while would also benefit, as have I, as keeping an open mind for us to learn mutually is also a part of what supervision can offer.
Challenging where it might further growth, we will work together discovering different ways of thinking to mobilise client work from fresh perspectives.
I will actively encourage you to give me feedback because the more open we can be in this professional space, the more we will enrich the experience, enhancing opportunities for learning and growth in service of clients.
If this sounds like the way you would like to receive supervision, please send me an initial enquiry and we can go from there.
