About me and my therapy practice

I offer a safe, empathic space for you to be able to explore how you are feeling or thinking in times of difficulty. If you are struggling with your well-being or mental health, please get in touch.  Choosing the right Therapist is important, you need to feel that you can open up to that person and be understood. I have worked with many clients of all ages, helping them to understand more about themselves, develop coping strategies and feel safe enough to explore deep feelings and past trauma.  Therapy can help with all conditions in this fast paced world.  If you are anxious, then managing day to day can be a challenge.  Reach out and get the help that you deserve as I am confident that I can help you whatever your situation.

Practice description

Over the years, my approach has developed into an integrative model.  This means that I will work with you as an individual to decide what type of therapy would work best for you at this time.  I focus on the relationship between Client and Counsellor as this is the most important predictor of the outcomes.  You need a non-judgmental, supportive space and my role is to help you explore your feelings, worries or situation to be able to cope, build resilience and stop repeating patterns which have become unhelpful.  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be helpful for anxiety and other conditions caused by our thoughts becoming unhelpful.  Traditional Person Centred talking therapies help a range of conditions including childhood experiences, trauma and relationship difficulties.  I will work in a way which feels most relevant to your needs.

About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to my page, my name is Debbie Kendall and I have 12 years experience as a Clinical Supervisor working with trainee and qualified Counsellors.  I have a background in supervising Therapists who work with children and young people,  as well as those who work with adults. The Supervisory relationship is crucial to the outcomes of our work.  I provide a supportive, educative clinical space for you to bring your work with clients.  My aim is to help you reflect on the clinical processes of your work, to be able to increase your own self-awareness, and think about how to develop the therapeutic depth in your work with clients.  I have experience of all models of therapy to be able to support you in developing as a Counsellor or Psychotherapist. It is important that you choose a Supervisor who is best suited to your needs. I have many years experience in working with risk and safeguarding of young people in a counselling setting.  Please contact me for an informal chat to discuss how we would work together in the supervisory relationship.

Practice description

My Supervisees feel safe, supported and developed in the supervisory relationship with me.  I use supervision models such as Procter's and The Seven Eyed Model, to help you reflect on your client work.  My role is to help you deepen your self-awareness, recognise triggers, and to increase clinical depth to be able to grow as a Therapist.  Having worked in a number of settings such as Schools, Colleges, Women's Mental Health, NHS Settings and Private Practise for 14 years, I feel able to support most areas of client work with my Supervisees.  My initial training was Person Centred (as a Therapist) and this has been developed over the years with further training in Relational, CBT, Integrative and Pluralistic Therapies.  Supervision is a supportive process which keeps clients and their Therapists safe.  Please get in touch to discuss your needs.

My first session

I offer an inital session to discuss your requirements which is usually a phone call of around 15 minutes.  There is no charge for this.  It is important that you get to know any potential Supervisors and are able to ask questions, talk about your needs and feel comfortable with your Supervisor.
