My regular hours are Monday to Friday morning and I run a private clinic in Saddleworth lancashire on a Tuesday .
My sessions are 55 minutes and I try to be as flexible as possible for people’s work commitments. My last session of the day is usually 4.30 but if you have a specific request we can discuss.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a Relate trained relationship therapist . I offer sessions for couples and individuals in person and online.
I have worked as a psychotherapist for 36 years, initially for Relate then the prison service and in private practice. I work from and integrative framework but mainly the therapeutic styles are systemic and psychodynamic.
I fundamentally believe in the collaborative approach between client and therapist, with the right supportive relationship, therapy can allow the client to feel empowered to explore and make changes and gain understanding around some complex issues.
I work with all ages from 16 onwards.
An area of particular interest to me is the often complex emotional dynamic between an adult child and a parent, this can involve longstanding patterns from early years. Whilst it can feel daunting to approach the issue, the outcomes are often beneficial to the individual.
Practice description
People can expect an open dialogue in a safe and pleasant environment, I’m here to help you find a path through your issues and we explore that together, at your pace . Every individual is different so every therapeutic experience is different, I aim to hear what you need from the process in the first session and we explore that together . We then discuss what’s going to be most beneficial for you, that includes an idea of length of therapy and frequency of sessions
My first session
My fee rate is the same for each session, if I’m co-working with for example a psychiatrist that’s slightly different and can be discussed.
On our first session we will discuss what’s been happening for you and for how long, also what other input you’ve had for example any medication or previous therapy.
Importantly I’m interested in what you want to achieve from the therapy and your support network.
The first session is just that, for you as the client to see if you feel I can help you achieve your desired outcome, you might be unsure what that outcome is but we can explore that together.
