About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Counsellor with over 21 years of experience working in the NHS. I am an Accredited & Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a Counsellor and Supervisor I feel I have a sound knowledge and understanding of the person-centred approach and I constantly explore this process working with clients face-to-face and as a Mentor with trainee counsellors in an NHS setting.
Counselling is an interaction between a counsellor and client in a professional setting, offering a genuine non-judgemental environment. This helps the client the space to openly talk about their feelings and emotions, which helps them explore their emotional, mental and physical distress. The counsellor does not give advice and counselling will not change what has happened to you; but may help you live more easily with the situation. Counselling helps you to see things more clearly, possibly from a different view point.
I work with clients who are aged sixteen and over with a range of different issues which include bereavement, loss, stress, relationship (not couple counselling), anxiety and depression. I currently hold a qualification in Counselling for Depression.
Within my work as a Counsellor and Supervisor the importance of the relationship is at the fore front of my work and I aim to see the 'real' person behind any disability or issue. My Counselling and Supervision Practice includes working with individuals and supervisees'.
