About me and my therapy practice
Counsellor for individuals and couples.
I am a compassionate, person-centred counsellor, putting the relationship at the heart of my work. I’m able to listen with empathy so you can explore difficult thoughts and feelings in confidence.
You could be trying to manage a crisis or life-changing event, be experiencing low self-esteem, or have a sense of feeling different or isolated.
My belief is that through the process of counselling, you will discover how to be more accepting of yourself and more sure of how you want to move forward in your life. Your interactions with the world outside will feel easier and you’ll experience the benefit of that.
I also offer couples work where I can help you to understand what binds you and your partner together, and how that can also push you apart. Old patterns of behaviour that come between you causing problems will become clear and you will gain new understanding of how to work to change them. You can explore ways to communicate more effectively and each get your own needs met.
As your counsellor I would not give advice but offer a space for you to look at anything which is troubling you, and which you cannot share elsewhere.
I am registered and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and have a quiet and comfortable room with good access, situated on the edge of Stroud.
Practice description
Sessions can be in-person or via Zoom.
I work with adults and couples.
I offer 50 minute sessions for individuals and 60 minutes for couples.
I aim to give a couple equal time and space to be heard in the room.
I work comfortably with feelings of difference and neurodiversity.
I am familiar with working with those who have experienced the effects of another's addiction in their life, although I don't work directly with someone who is currently suffering from addiction. I can refer you on if this might be helpful.
I can work short or long-term. We can review our sessions at regular intervals to check on how you feel you're progressing.
I have a comfortable room with almost-level access in Rodborough, Stroud.
My first session
When you book in your initial session, I send the contract by email so you can read through it and get an idea of the framework in which I work. Here, you can let me know if you have any questions or particular needs before we meet.
The initial session is where we get a sense of if we can work together and I will take your contact details any thoughts you might have about what you would like to get from the sessions.
Further session are usually weekly, and at the same time each week, but these can be adjusted to meet your requirements.
