About me and my therapy practice
I began my Counselling Degree at Queens University in 2006. I have also trained in many different aspects of alternative therapies. My degree incorporated many forms of therapy including-
- Person-Centred counselling
- Cognitive Behavioural therapy
- Psychodynamic therapy
- Mindfulness
All of the above contained different aspects of counselling such as bereavement, childhood trauma, addiction, eating disorders, anxiety and the many different forms all of these issues can take on an individual, never assume people react in the same way to any trauma is my mantra. After my first assessment I will work closely with my client to decide on the best form of therapy for them and decide the way forward together.
I have had a passion for helping others my entire life and began counselling in 2010. My own past has only served to deepen my desire to help as I can deeply empathise with those who need it most. I believe that no one should suffer in silence and I work hard to try and guide clients to their own answers. When someone feels lost they then become confused and this is a very lonely place to be. I base my work on clearing the mist and helping clients find the answers.
Practice description
Areas of specialty:
Depresssion- Depression can be an incredibly challenging condition to manage, but with the right support system, you can learn to work through it. My counselling services offer a safe space where you can talk openly and honestly about your experiences, without judgement or stigma. With my help, you can develop coping strategies and build resilience, so you can tackle your depression head-on.
Trauma- I offer compassionate and evidence-based counselling services for individuals who have experienced trauma. I provide a safe and supportive space, where you will receive the expert guidance you can trust such as CBT and integrative psychotherapy. Together, we will navigate your healing journey, opening avenues to a life filled with peace, self-discovery, and resilience.
Emotional abuse- Emotional abuse is a serious issue, and it’s important to have a safe space to discuss how it has impacted you. As a experienced, integrative therapist in healing emotional trauma, I provide a sensitive and supportive environment where you can talk about your experiences. Together, we’ll work towards finding ways to move forward and heal from the effects of emotional abuse.
Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder- Living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to face it alone. My specialised treatment programme is designed to provide you with the support you need to begin your healing journey. I will work closely with you to develop a personalised treatment plan focused on your unique needs, helping you achieve healing and growth.
Narcissistic Abuse- Recovering from narcissistic abuse can be a difficult and emotional journey, but with my counseling services, you won't have to go through it alone. I provide a compassionate and safe space where you can heal, process your experiences, and empower yourself to move forward. Together, we'll work on developing self-care strategies to help you regain your confidence and self-worth.
My first session
In our first session together, my primary goal is to create a safe and comfortable space for you to share your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. We'll start by discussing what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I'll ask questions to better understand your background, current struggles, and goals for therapy. We'll also explore any previous experiences with therapy or counseling, as well as your expectations and preferences for our work together. This initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. You're welcome to ask questions and share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. My role is to listen nonjudgmentally, provide support, and collaboratively work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs
