Availability
I typically don't work on the weekend and at Christmas, New year or public holidays. Other times will be advised typically two weeks before any temporary lack of availability unless there is an emergency or weather-related incident.
About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes the fear of being judged can hold us back from seeking help and advice, and in resisting we fail to be true to ourselves and embrace the possibilities a positive practical step like Counselling or Psychotherapy can offer.
Whether you know what brings you to seek help, or simply wish to explore things that concern you and just feel something is not quite right, I invite you to take a moment to take action and consider a change.
I am a Psychotherapist, Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Certified Transactional Analyst. Transactional Analysis (TA) is integrative and draws upon Humanistic, Psychoanalytic and Cognitive Behavioural approaches, this permits me to tailor therapy to your individual requirements. The key TA belief being that we are all capable of change.

My first session
Your first consultation is as much for you to find out about me the therapist as it is about me to learn about you, so don't feel shy in asking any questions which may not have already been answered. I will also inform you of my terms of business, you should feel no obligation to continue if at this point you’re not comfortable with the arrangements or I fail to answer your questions adequately.
If we both decide we can work together I will ask you to provide some basic contact and medical information, which I should know about in case of emergency, together with an emergency contact if you have one.
Your future therapy will be based upon therapeutic goals and objectives, which we both agree, which will have been already discussed during the session but they may require further sessions to clarify and review.
Therapy will usually be weekly and regular as this is necessary for the therapeutic process to succeed. You should expect that there may be some enquiries about your past as well as your present circumstances, however, you should also expect that you will do most of the talking as therapy is essentially all about you.
Lastly, it's normal to periodically review how your therapy is going and possibly to adapt or make changes to the overall therapeutic goal if this is necessary, it's also a chance to check that both of us are working together as expected.
