About me and my therapy practice
I have over 9 years worth of experience working with primary school aged children and young people, to adults within agencies and in private practice.
I approach counselling from an integrative approach that incorporates psychodynamic therapy, humanism, CBT, mindfulness, existentialism, and others. This means that I am able to pull from several sources of therapeutic approach and use the skills and tools that suit you best. I am passionate about the counselling that I offer and with the time and space needed to reflect on past and present issues and experiences, we can work together to become more aware of what is really going on to help you understand what is going on for you.
Practice description
I offer short-term therapy (6-8 sessions) to longer, open-ended therapy, this is dependent on what you feel you need from counselling. Reviews will be carried out regularly to check in with how you feel the sessions are going. Sessions can be over the phone, online, or face to face. I have a counselling room within my home.
Qualifications: First Class Honours Degree in Psychology, Foundation Degree in Counselling, and Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am currently studying a Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play and a Masters in Psychology concurrently.
I am a qualified Counselling Supervisor and have taught up to the Level 4 Counselling Diploma. I have previously worked for Cruse Bereavement Care also.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity to gain some additional information about what the presenting issue is, and the context it is within. The first session usually entails more questions on my part than usual as I try to gain a clearer understanding of the situation, but this does reduce as sessions go on.

Practice description
I believe I would ideal for student/ trainee counsellors as I am a former Level 4 Diploma tutor and can appreciate the many challenges students have to face. Supervision will be fortnightly, but may need to be weekly depending on client hours to supervision ratios. I have worked with primary/ secondary school age children for many years so may be of additional benefit for those working with children, but may not necessarily had the training to work with children.
Qualifications: First Class Honours Degree in Psychology, Foundation Degree in Counselling, and Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am currently studying a Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play and a Masters in Psychology concurrently.
I am a qualified Counselling Supervisor and have taught the Level 2/3/4 Counselling courses. I have previously worked for Cruse Bereavement Care also.
My first session
The first session is typically a getting to know each other session and if we will be able to gel in a supervisory relationship.
