About me and my therapy practice
I offer people a time and confidential space where they can be heard without being judged. This will involve thinking and reflecting with them about their concerns and how these might link with their relationships and their everyday lives.
Psychodynamic therapists believe that unconscious processes play a part in our thinking, being and behaviour. I work with this to facilitate understanding of the self and others which can open up more individual choice and pave the way for healing.
Having worked in the NHS for over forty years, first as a medical doctor, then as a psychiatrist and now as a psychodynamic therapist, I have a wealth of experience in many settings of physical and mental health, which I believe are interlinked.
For some years my work has been with people suffering from eating disorders as well as working on a voluntary basis for Psychotherapy Services and for IAPT, which has allowed me to gain an additional qualification in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy. This means I am able to work on both long and short-term bases.
I am professionally insured and bound by the BACP code of ethics which involves having regular supervision of my work .
