About me and my therapy practice

I offer one to one counselling tailored to your individuality. I offer a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space where you can express your real emotions which may be hard to share with your family and friends. I will work with you to support you, to find meaning in your experience and help you to find and connect with your inner resources to cope with life, promote any changes you want to make and manage any feelings and behaviours that may be impacting your ability to enjoy life. I am able to provide hope and respect during this process. I have been trained in a number of different therapy approaches including IPT and CBT and can use one which best suits your needs. I also have experience of working with depression, relationship issues & anxiety and my area of expertise is with long term, chronic health conditions.  My training is in ‘humanistic’ therapy which values and accepts the person for who they are and acknowledges personal growth and change as possible and necessary. I promote a sense of self-worth and provide positive value to your experience and your emotions. My work is person-centred which means you are at the centre of the work and dictate the content, pace and direction of the work and also how long you want to work with me. I offer both long term and short term approaches.

Practice description

I integrate elements from CBT and IPT. My philosophical approach is informed by Existential Theory.

About me and my therapy practice

I have over 10,000 hours of client experience including working for the NHS and I am now offering supervision in a Person-Centred and  Integrative approach to Counselling and Psychotherapy. The aspects of Integration I can supervise on are IPT and low intensity CBT. My philosophical leanings are towards Existential ways of making meaning of life, our fears and our behaviours and this runs through all my client and supervision work.

I have been trained at the Centre for Supervision and Team Development (CSTD) in Bath and hold a diploma with them.

My approach to supervision has been informed by the training with CSTD and would like to share their definition of Supervision:

'Supervision is a joint endeavour in which a practitioner with the help of a supervisor, attends to their clients, themselves as part of their client practitioner relationship and the wider systemic context, and by so doing improves the quality of their work, transforms their client relationship, continuously develops themselves, their practice and the wider profession.'

Above all, for me, supervision is a collaborative, developmental and hopefully enjoyable process.
