About me and my therapy practice
I guess you are viewing my profile because you are struggling with life in some way and maybe wondering how counselling could help.
Counselling helps because it provides a safe and confidential space where your thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely. It gives you a set of tools to help gain a better understanding of what is causing the problems you are experiencing - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
You are not alone! People come to counselling for many different reasons often facing difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of.
Are you feeling anxious and overwhelmed with the stresses of everyday life, feeling like you are failing at what seems like everything making you doubt yourself all the time. Having difficulty with a relationship, family issues or work problems; Experiencing anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression; loneliness or low self-esteem; Are you living with chronic illness, disability and pain; or are you going through a Bereavement or loss.
Whatever your reasons for seeking out counselling, if it's causing you distress then it matters.
I understand that reaching out and asking for help doesn’t always feel easy and most clients will have experienced some anxiety around this but what clients say to me is that once they have taken this first step they feel a huge sense of relief.
Working together we can explore the problems you are facing whether past or present that may be impacting your everyday life. I can help you gain greater insight by helping you understand why you act or react the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, healthier choices moving forward. I will listen to you with compassion, sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement.
Where else in our everyday lives can we find a space where we can just be ourselves without having to filter out what we think or feel.
Counselling is an investment in yourself because you matter!
Practice description
I work online with adult clients remotely via Zoom or via the telephone in Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich & Chelmsford, the surrounding areas Essex & Suffolk & across the UK.
There are many benefits to online counselling as it allows you to access counselling at a time and a place that is convenient for you without having to travel to and from appointments. Remote sessions can be less disruptive to a busy life and/or work schedule. It could be that you are a shift worker, work away from home or have family commitments, or you may have mobility issues or experience social anxiety or you may just prefer seeing a counsellor online.
Every reason is valid and working with a counsellor online or via the telephone is equally beneficial as working with a counsellor in person. I have been working online since 2020 and have completed 100 hours of additional training for working online with an ACTO approved trainer.
All you will need to do is find a quiet and confidential space where you won’t be disturbed.
My core approach to counselling is person-centred but I also integrate other approaches into the sessions to provide the best outcomes for you which puts you the client at the heart of the therapeutic process.
I have been qualified for 10 years+ working in long and short-term work with a diverse range of adult clients ages 18 to 80 years plus, who present with a wide range of issues and different counselling needs.
I am qualified to degree level BA (Hons) Counselling Studies. I am an Accredited Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I am also a Level 2 Professional Member of ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online) I have Insurance and hold a current Enhanced DBS Certificate. I am also registered with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office).
I am committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected and should you decide to engage in my services you will be given a copy of my GDPR and Privacy Policy.
My first session
When you first make contact with me I will offer you a no obligation free of charge 20-minute telephone consultation at a mutually convenient time to explain how I work and to give you further information on the counselling process.
This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right counsellor to help.
It also gives you a chance as a client to ask any questions you might have relating to counselling. I am open to answering the questions you might have during this call and throughout the counselling process.
In my experience of working with many different clients the therapeutic relationship is central to the counselling process because it's the vehicle that heals and enables change for you as a client
This is why it's important you find a counsellor that best suits your needs and one whom you feel you can relate to because this will give you better experiences and outcomes from your counselling sessions
If you and I feel online counselling could suit your needs and you would like to continue we can book the first session. The purpose of the first session is to assess your counselling needs in more depth and look at what you would like to gain from your sessions.
This session and subsequent sessions are 50 minutes in duration and cost £50.
Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly depending on your counselling needs which we can discuss in the initial telephone consultation.
If you don’t see the issues you are experiencing here please do contact me as not everything is listed here.
