About me and my therapy practice

*Accepting new clients for January*

Would you like to make a real change for 2025?

Are you a millennial and feeling stuck with where you are in life?  Perhaps you are noticing feeling more anxious but can't really explain why.  Would you like to talk through a recent change in your life, such as becoming a parent?  Maybe you don't feel happy in your current job and would like to talk this through.

My practice is in Walthamstow Village and I can see clients in person or online.

Counselling provides you with an opportunity to talk about whatever you want in a safe environment with the knowledge that everything you say is completely confidential.  You will be listened to sincerely and without judgement.

Through talking through your issues, counselling can help you discover and use your inner resources, enabling you to better cope with life’s issues and perhaps finding some solutions.

Life can often feel fast paced and overwhelming, especially in the city.  Having a regular time allocated to you, allowing you space to feel and say what you need can be truly invaluable.

My training is in Integrative Counselling, and as such I am a great believer of not one model fits everyone, and rather prefer to draw on my learning and knowledge to apply the approach best for your needs. We will work together at a pace that you're comfortable with.  I believe that the past can significantly inform the present, but that it is also important to be in the moment and work with what is happening now.

Practice description

My practice is in Walthamstow Village and I can see clients in person or online.

I provide a safe and comfortable space for you to be able to share your thoughts and feelings.

My first session

At the beginning of the first session I will ask you some questions- usually the same for everyone. These are questions that might not naturally come up in the first session otherwise, but are useful for me to gather knowledge about.

During the rest of the session I listen, asking questions when appropriate, while you talk about whatever you like. This may be one topic that is on your mind and feeling particularly important at the time. It may be explaining a series of events which have lead to you coming to counselling at this time. Often clients say they come not knowing what they’re going to talk about and then before they know it the 50 minutes is up.

Towards the end of the session we will discuss continuing to work together. Sometimes clients like to leave the session and think about it. If we do decide to work together we then discuss a day and time we can meet regularly. With most of my clients I see them on the same day at the same time once a week or every other week. For some people this is not always possible and we discuss ways around this and other options.

One of the most important aspects of the first session is ascertaining whether a good therapeutic relationship between myself and the client can be formed. Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in counselling.

Am I someone you feel able to open up to? Do you feel supported and listened to without judgement? There is nothing wrong with deciding after the first session that you may find a better fit with a different counsellor.
