About me and my therapy practice
After having my own first encounter with the powerful life-changing resource of therapy, I studied at York St John University and qualified in counselling and psychotherapy in 2013. During my training and in my career as a therapist I have worked in many different contexts including short term, solution focused setting and long term trauma therapy. I have worked across culture for the majority of my career and am very comfortable engaging in therapy with people from other cultural backgrounds. I have a lot of experience of working with interpreters and am happy to source and work with interpreters where required or considered beneficial. Having been in a management position in a busy therapeutic organisation, I have experience of the stress that comes of managing projects, budgets and people. I am competent to help someone else to do the same.
When it comes to trauma, I have developed a dislike for the purist, diagnostic approach. I believe we all suffer trauma to a greater or lesser extent. My approach to all therapy is to notice how events impact our mind and body including the nervous system with it's aim of keeping us safe.
The natural world is a huge resource to us physically, spiritually and emotionally. It is my experience, that connection with the natural world can be both refreshing and enlightening. Having looked at the practice and benefits of working in outdoor spaces, I am able to offer therapy in, carefully chosen, outdoor spaces.
As a result of many years working alongside a body therapist and seeing the results that a combined approach bring, in 2022 I decided to train to become a body therapist. After much research I found The Body College (London) who train in the Biodynamic Cranio-Sacral approach. I will qualify as a BCST therapist in 2024, meanwhile I am offering practice sessions at no cost to people who would like to offer their time. This is seperate from talking therapy and so not available concurrently at this time.
Practice description
I am working in private practice full time which brings an element of flexibility to meet at various times during the week. I am happy to discuss your needs. I rent rooms in Leeds City Centre. I am happy to work online if it helps but prefer to have one face to face session when possible to get to know you more. Happy to discuss this and any limitations or requirements you may have.
My sessions are 60 minutes long and I manage the time for you. They are at the same time every week with agreed breaks or changes when required and with notice.
We will regularly review our work together to ensure that it is productive and is working towards aims we set out together. Sometimes these aims might change but we will not let them drift.
My first session
In therapy I believe in equality and collaboration as fundamentals to success. It is in the rapport that we build that the work can be done. Therefore, I offer a 30 minute meet up to help us decide if we can work together. This can be in person or online. This is free so that we are investing the same in the process. After that we will plan a session to contract together and assess what our work will be.

About me and my therapy practice
As a supervisor I use the seven eyed model of supervision. I find this a helpful model to use for supervisees of all backgrounds. I have worked with many supervisees including art therapists and counselling psychology students. I believe that good supervision is vital to personal and professional development and that finding a supervisor who is a good fit is essential.
I offer a 30 minute meeting to get to know each other and decide if we can work together.
