About me and my therapy practice
Supporting self care and self compassion is at the core of my practice. My therapeutic approaches are; Humanistic, relational, transpersonal/spiritual, Mindfulness, Counselling from an Other Centered Perspective, Person Centered, eclectic. I have managed a counselling service for 15 years, including clinical supervision. I have supported many staff counsellors and trainee counsellors on placement. I have taught meditation and mindfulness for a similar length of time.
I believe that in a kind, warm, authentic and empathic container growth is always possible. I believe that a person’s potential for growth is almost limitless, and psychotherapy offers the possibility of growth and deepening understanding. For growth to happen, therapy invites the open and honest engagement of both client and therapist. In counselling it is possible for you to process your emotions and experiences in order to move on in a less burdened way. We can explore your personal beliefs, how those beliefs have developed and how they can sometimes limit you. Increasing self-awareness is a great benefit that therapy offers, and greater self-awareness and self-nurturing can lead to better choices and richer lives.

About me and my therapy practice
My approaches are: Humanistic, relational, transpersonal/spiritual, Counselling from an Other Centered Perspective, Person Centered, eclectic. I am a qualified and experienced clinical supervisor and have a certificate in IAPT management. I have extensive experience of supervising therapists who work with young people and young adults, although I am not seeing young people myself currently. I also have substantial experience of supervising counsellors seeing adults. I have managed a counselling service for young people 14-25 for 15 years, and I have taught meditation and mindfulness for a similar length of time. As well as seeing counsellors/psychotherapists and trainees, I can offer supervision to service managers.
Practice description
I am a qualified supervisor with several hundred of hours of supervision experience. Supervision is generally more collegial than therapy, and depending on the supervisee’s experience, we can explore ideas and look at issues from a range of perspectives together in a creative way. Supervision is a place to be offered support and explore a range of approaches, aspects and dynamics, both in the therapist-client relationship and in the client and therapists’ wider context. In a relaxed and collegial atmosphere, there is space and time to explore what is and what may not yet have emerged in the work. For trainees, there is an additional emphasis on guidance and exploring the appropriateness of interventions in addition to support and creative exploration.
My first session
Our first session together is a chance to explore your hopes and needs and whether our approaches are a good match. I welcome therapists who are 'shopping around' for the right supervisor to meet their needs.
