About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor combining person-centered, CBT and some DBT skills in to my practice, adapting to meet your needs.
I offer a warm, safe, non-judgemental space where together we can explore and reflect on the issues/difficulties you may be experiencing.
My counselling experience covers (but is not limited to) working with anxiety, anger issues, depression, stress, loss/bereavement, bullying, illness, low in confidence/self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, self-harm and couples/relationship issues.
I have volunteered and worked for a charity, specialising in sexual violence and offered counselling to victims/survivors of sexual violence, including child sexual abuse, rape as an adult, sexual assault, sexual harassment at work and extreme abuse. Also providing counselling to the family, friends and partners of the victims/survivors.
Previously I volunteered as a counsellor for Prescribed Medication Support Service (PMSS) which is part of the NHS. PMSS offer counselling to those on medication and who may be looking to reduce or come off their prescriptions.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work within their Ethical Framework.
I have been counselling for a little over 10 years.
My qualifications were achieved with Coleg Harlech, based in North Wales.
Practice description
Counselling can be to help you work through a specific issue or it can be that you may simply feel the need to talk to someone who will listen.
Counselling can provide you with an opportunity to gain insight into your present situation, feelings and behaviour. It can help in exploring strategies for working through the problems you are experiencing. Also, counselling can help with grounding/coping techniques for managing everyday life.
The process allows you to talk about your feelings or concerns within an empathic, confidential and supportive environment.
This is the first step of taking control and reaching out for the support you need.
Counselling can help you start to take small steps to be able to make positive changes in your life.
My first session
The first session gives you the opportunity to meet me and talk about what has brought you to counselling. We can discuss how best to work together, exploring what you want to achieve and looking at what your expectations are of counselling.
