I am currently available for face to face, online and telephone counselling. I can also offer a blend of these types of therapy. This can give a good basis to the counselling relationship by starting with face to face sessions, and then moving to online if time or distance dictates.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an accredited counsellor and my core model is Person Centered with an integrative approach. I work with all types of issues, with my specialist areas in working with health conditions, loss and bereavement. I have been in Private Practice since 2014 and I have a wealth of experience supporting students and trainees completing counselling courses from Universities and Colleges.
I achieved my BSc (Hons) Degree in Physiology in 1988; this included study of Brain and Behaviour and Neurobiology. My working life has included 15 years employed in a non-uniform, frontline Police role, where I had experience of supporting victims of crime and training personnel. A radical change in my life then lead me into counselling and I achieved my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and passed the Cruse Bereavement Care Foundation Course in 2013.
I have experience of working with patients in three different NHS GP practices. I am able to offer support in a range of areas including those listed below. The list is not exhaustive. I have relevant life experience including adapting to changes in health and coping with loss within family and career. I also have experience of being a carer for 15 years.
I have training in living with long-term health conditions and ran a Neurological Support Group for 5 years. I have volunteered with the Stroke Association and trained with the MS helpline. I am committed to continuing professional development and regularly attend courses to enhance my practice, including a Diploma in Counselling Young People and a Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling.
I am based in Halesowen, near to Junction 3 of the M5 motorway and also on a main bus route. There is adjacent parking and my therapy room is fully accessible and overlooks a private garden. Please feel free to leave me a message or email and I will reply asap. I offer a free 20-30 minute phone consultation to see if we are a ‘good fit’ for each other.
