About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced therapist providing face to face sessions in Stoke on Trent and Derby. My style is warm, open and transparent. You can expect a grounded and honest practitioner keen to work collaboratively as we explore what brought you to therapy.
I work with adults of all ages and also have extensive experience working with young people in education and criminal justice settings.
My initial training in person centred counselling began in 1998. Since then I have worked with: solution focussed therapy; motivational interviewing; EFT; CBT; mindfulness and Breathwork. I am an integrative counsellor, meaning that I use a number of approaches and enjoy responding to what clients bring, with regular reviews of our work together.
I have personally experienced the therapies I offer. Therapy has helped me overcome cycles of anxiety, depression, body pain and burnout. I am vigilant about my own personal and professional development and believe this allows me to establish a genuine connection with you, fostering trust and safety. I offer flexible support according to your needs and have special interest trauma; anxiety; addiction; depression and stress.
I’m really curious about people and why we do the things we do. I will help you unpack your challenges and identify blocks in your life. As you gain increased clarity and self awareness you may experience painful emotions, but therapy can also be fun and playful.
I’ve always had a passion for helping others improve their physical and emotional health. I want to do work which is meaningful and appreciate making a difference from work I love.
My lived experience of trauma and the effects this has on the body informs my practice. Sometimes talking therapy doesn’t seem to help and people are stuck. Breathwork has helped me and my clients to access suppressed emotions and clear them from the body.
Practice description
You may have difficult relationships, intense emotions and be struggling, perhaps feeling stuck or confused. We can uncover 'blind spots' and explore new perspectives helping you find a healthier way to live.
I offer open-ended or short term therapy.
Whilst we will be mainly talking, I sometimes offer the use of other creative techniques like Breathwork, guided meditation or drawing, if it feels right in the moment.
I work in person at the Elephant Rooms in Derby and from home in Stoke on Trent.
I can also support with Online or Telephone Counselling
If you want to take this first step please contact me and together we can work towards achieving your goals and leading a happier, healthier life.
