About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and specialise in working with children and young people, working primarily with 10-25 year olds. I have worked with young people for over 20 years, now as an experienced counsellor and prior to this in a variety of roles, working within health, education and social care.

I provide a safe, non-judgemental and safe space for young people to explore their feelings and difficult experiences, recognise and change unhealthy behaviours and thought patterns and grow in self-confidence.

My integrative practice means that I draw on a range of therapeutic techniques to help me tailor the best approach and meet the needs of each young person I meet.

Building a strong and nurturing therapeutic relationship is central to my work. I have found that when young people feel heard and understood they are better able to understand themselves and implement positive changes in their lives.

Practice description

Whilst I specialise in working with children and young people, I also work with adults.

I am able to provide counselling via video-call, telephone and email.

I will also consider requests for in-person counselling, and home visits.

My first session

I offer a free 10 minute initial consultation via video call or telephone.

Typically I will have an initial consultation with a child or young person's parent or primary carer. We can discuss whether it is appropriate for the child to be present for this, but with older children and teenagers, it usually is. Young people in their late teens may wish to attend an initial consultation without a parent or carer present - this is usually appropriate. These consultations are an informal opportunity for you to get to know me and for me to understand more about what you need and would like support with.
