About me and my therapy practice
Are you struggling with low self esteem, anxiety or grief? Does it affect your life & relationships and stop you doing the things you want? I can help you learn how to manage low mood/anxiety and improve your self esteem, relationships and develop a more positive outlook in your life - you deserve it and it can be done!
I don't believe in 'one size to fits all' so I use different approaches in response to the needs of each unique, client (including CBT, mindfulness as well as client centred therapy). I'm down to earth and while I will challenge you, I go by your lead as to what you want to work on and for how long. I have experience of working with clients who are experiencing a range of issues and have particular interest and experience of working with anxiety, low self confidence/esteem, grief/loss and relationship & parent to be issues/concerns (including fertility/miscarriage).
I am seeing clients face to face with certain precautions and public health guidance measures in place. However, I also offer telephone counselling & on Zoom.
What next?
I offer a free, initial telephone consultation (around 30 mins). This enables us to explore what you may be looking for in a Counsellor, as well as for me to explain a little about how I work so that we can decide if I am able to meet your needs. If you would like to book a telephone consultation please do get in touch and let me know times to suit.
Practice description
I work from a designated, comfortable & private consultation in my home. It is up one flight of stairs with accessible toilet facilities if required.
My first session
The initial telephone consultation I offer is a chance for us to explore a little about what you're looking for and what I can offer you. If we then go ahead and schedule a 'face to face' session, I will give you information about where I am and confirm times etc. I will then also send you a copy of my standard contract for you to read before our first session.
At the first session I will take some information from you and explain more about how I hold your confidentiality/personal data etc and we can talk more about what you want to achieve from counselling and agree goals and explore ways of working.

About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Denise Sturges-Allard.
Are you looking for face to face or Online Counselling supervision to support your client work? Are you considering or running a Private Practice?
I am a therapist working with a pluralist philosophy. My core modality is humanistic, however, I have developed my knowledge and experience of Mindfulness & CBT (Cognitive behaviour Therapy) in order to integrate these (with heart) alongside the core values – helping clients struggling with Anxiety (incl. OCD, phobias, GAD & Panic).
My main areas of work are around debilitating anxiety and coping with stress, anxiety and grief and building resilience during times of loss and change. I run a successful private practice (established 2012) and am passionate about supporting other practitioners who wish to take the leap of faith too. I have experienced some great supervision over these years and truly wish to offer you the same collaboratively, nurturing space too to grow in your practice too. I have run a BACP Private Practice Network Group (Kent region) for 4 years and have 30+ years of experience supporting individuals and families in the social care sector (including perinatal mental health & child protection).
If you feel like I can support you in your practice, please feel free to get in touch.
Practice description
I use the seven eyed model of clinical supervision to provide supervisees seven areas of focus that encompass the client, the therapist, the supervisor, the relationships between therapist, client and supervisor, and the wider system.
I endeavour to provide a safe space for supervisees to feel they can truly explore their therapeutic relationships with clients to enhance their practice.
My first session
After completing a supervisee intake form (outlining your qualifications and practice details etc), we can then arrange to meet online or face to face for an initial consultation to explore how we may work together.
