About me and my therapy practice
Hello, to briefly introduce myself, I am a family man with three children, who over the years has been faced with a vast amount of different life experiences, my years as a Samaritan and the subsequent journey that led me too qualify as a counsellor have been very enriching, I now hope to use this to help my clients in whatever difficulties you are faced with. My main aim is to create a safe and comfortable space in which we can fully explore the issues you have, I am only to aware of how difficult it is to make the first step to seek help, and the respect that brings will I hope be the base on which we can build our trust, I also work in a realistic and down to earth way that I believe connects with people of all backgrounds. Trust is vital in a relationship so our initial meeting would be at a cost of just £30 this would then allow you to decide whether you felt able to begin therapy, having had the confidence of knowing who I am and how we could work together. I am also happy to have sessions using Face time/Zoom or telephone counselling if you prefer.
Practice description
I work very much with the person in front of me, so by that I mean that whatever issues a person brings are individual to them and their feelings and worries around that issue are what i try to concentrate on. therapy is for me about helping the person in a way that they understand and that allows them to move forward at a pace that suits them or allows them to gain a better understanding of the problem they present.
My first session
The first counselling session you attend can in my experience be so crucial, so I offer a half price appointment. In this first session I will explain how the process works, try to answer any questions you may have and allow you to hopefully get a feel about both myself and how we could work together.
I realise the first step to counselling can be a daunting thought and fully respect that, fears and concerns are very often present and I will do my upmost to be with you in a way that supports your needs not only during our first session but also throughout the following weeks.
The initial meeting will allow you to tell me what brings you to counselling and the issues you would like to work through then I will tell you my initial thoughts and ideas and we can see where that leads us, you have no obligation to attend any further sessions unless you decide you would like to. If you decide to carry on I will have a contract that fully explains the ethical rules of the BACP that I abide by in my sessions and will also outline my conditions of work and payment. Thank you.
