About me and my therapy practice
I offer a confidential, warm, welcoming and professional service. I am trained as an Integrative Practitioner which includes person centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural ways of working. I provide a safe space through listening to clients in a non-judgemental and empathetic way, helping them explore and come to terms with their issues. I help clients find possible solutions or ways forward through the issues they are experiencing.
Practice description
I am a fully qualified counsellor who is a registered and accredited member of the BACP. I have over 15 years experience of working with women, men, children and young people from a variety of backgrounds and with a diverse range of issues. I have worked for different organisations including charities, schools, colleges, the NHS, Swansea University and now work in private practice as a recognised BUPA practitioner and Axa and Validium affiliate counsellor.
I offer face to face counselling in the Brynmill area of Swansea, telephone or online counselling.
F2F or phone is £50 per 50 minute session.
Online is £45 per 50 minute session.
My first session
In the first session of counselling I welcome the client and introduce myself by giving an overview of who I am, my qualifications and how long I’ve been working as a therapist. The contract will have been agreed to before the first session via e mail but I will check with the client that they understand it and answer any further questions the client might have. I also highlight important points in the contract such as information around confidentiality and safeguarding. If the client hasn’t had counselling before I’ll talk about what the process involves. I will then explain how I work. I then ask the client what they hope to achieve from counselling and invite them to share with me what they want to talk about and explore.
The first session provides an opportunity for the client and therapist to decide if they are a good ‘fit’ with each other to allow a productive working relationship to develop. As a result I am happy if clients want to make a ‘stand alone’ first appointment with me to see if we would be a good ‘fit’ with each other.

About me and my therapy practice
I am currently training to gain a Level 6 Diploma in supervision with the Place2Be. I can offer supervision to trainee, newly qualified and experienced counsellors. I offer a style of supervision based in Person Centred principles with an Integrative and Systemic approach. This reflects the counselling training I received and the model I follow as an Integrative counsellor. I offer either F2F or online supervision at a reduced rate while I'm training.
As a counsellor I am an Accredited Member of the BACP and have over 15 years of experience working with children, young people and adults and have counselled in many different settings including the NHS, schools, colleges, universities, charities, EAP's and agencies. I am currently running my own private practice which I have been doing for 5 years.
Practice description
As a trainee supervisor I offer one to one supervision. As a supervisee you can expect to find a safe and supportive space to talk about and explore your client cases. I will help you to understand issues your client's have brought providing an encouraging and enabling space for self reflection on these issues. I will help you explore possible ways forward within the therapeutic process with your client that you can integrate into your counselling practice. You can expect me to use a mix of theory informed best practice and my years of experience as a counsellor. You can expect me to work at building a safe and trusting supervisor/supervisee relationship where difficult issues and feelings around clinical work, ethical and safeguarding issues and the environment you work in can be explored to enable you to continue to develop your self awareness, experience, and theoretical knowledge to nurture growth and confidence in your counselling practice.
My first session
In the first session I would introduce myself and invite the supervisee to introduce themselves. I would then contract with the supervisee making clear the terms and conditions of the contract including confidentiality and safeguarding around the work and the boundaries of the supervisor/supervisee relationship ensuring these are understood by the supervisee and inviting any questions about the contract. I would then share with the supervisee about myself as a supervisor and as a counsellor and invite the supervisee to share about themselves as a counselling practitioner. I would invite the supervisee to talk about their expectations from me as their supervisor and the supervision process including what experiences they possibly already have with supervision. I would then explore with the supervisee what context they see their clients in such as within a charity, agency, educational or medical setting. I would explore with them the policies and procedures and ethical guidelines of any organisation(s) they work for and/or their particular professional body such as the BACP for example. I would initially explore in a general way their case load inviting them to give me an overview of their clients and then invite them to focus on a particular client case, issue or theme which they feel they'd like to explore.
