About me and my therapy practice
The corona crisis has come to an end, yet it is still impacting on many people’s lives. The way we used to live has changed and we needed to adapt to the new “normal”.
Sometimes we might feel that things are just getting too much, or we want to look at something specific which is bothering us.
Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, worn out, depressed and stressed are just some of the many ways we might react to what is happening around us and within us.
Looking for help is not a sign of defeat, not now and not ever; it should be seen as a way we can look after ourselves in these trying times. If you think talking might help you to process what you are going through, then please, get in touch.
Counselling and psychotherapy can help us to find clarity by talking through these issues and thereby gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves, our feelings and needs. I always aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your issues.
Practice description
I trained in an integrative approach, which uses the relationship between client and counsellor as the base for the journey together. Depending on the client I draw from a variety of approaches, such as person-centred, mindfulness, cognitive and solution-focused theories, as I don’t believe that one approach fits all clients or all issues.
Sessions are client-led and unstructured, which means that you decide what you want to bring to the session. I do not have an agenda and we will explore whatever you wish, bearing in mind your overall goals. Periodically we will check in how the sessions are going for you, if there are things that don’t work for you or others you would like more of. The work is collaborative with you being an active part of the process. If we decide after the initial meeting to continue, we can set a number of sessions or work with an open end.
If we decide to continue we can set a number of sessions or work with an open end. Sessions will usually be weekly at the same time, they last for 50 minutes and cost £75, although some concessionary rates are available for the unwaged, people on a low income or students. The initial meeting is £30. Cancellations of more than 48 hours notice will be charged at £35 and missed or cancelled sessions of less than 48 hours notice will be charged for at the usual rate.
My first session
Our first meeting is a chance for you to tell me more about what brings you to counselling and what you expect to get from it. It also gives me the opportunity to find out a little bit more about you and if we think we can work together.
The initial meeting is £30.
