About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for viewing my profile. I understand how difficult it can be to try and find the right person to provide support. I try and respond within 24hrs to enquiries.
Taking the first step to reach out can feel challenging, by starting a conversation here and now I can support you with this. Please get in contact and I can talk you through the next steps towards working together.
Take the time you need- Having a weekly space to explore and reflect can help to gain better understanding and feel more in control. How long we work together will be a on-going discussion between us. We will regularly review how counselling is benefiting you and ensure we are working towards any goals you may have.
My aim is to offer support to anyone trying to better understand their own identity.

Adoption:
The process of adoption can be a challenging one for all involved.
I offer open ended therapy which allows space to better understand the thoughts attached, and to process some of the feelings.
In turn, this can help to alleviate difficult behaviours or to make better sense of them. I offer a calm space to think, be heard and consider your issues.
I will provide a external perspective, while respecting your experiences.
My job is to provide you with a warm, understanding, empathetic and non-judgemental environment to explore and make any changes you are looking for.
We can use creative tools such as art or sand trays in addition to talking to explore and better understand what has brought you to counselling.
For young people or neurodivergent clients I provide a selection of fiddle toys, and encourage clients to bring items that may help them feel comfortable where appropriate.
Practice description
I am a Barnado's Link Therapist and also registered with Adopt South.I offer long-term therapy to adults, children and adolescents affected by adoption either at my therapy room just outside of Odiham or online via Zoom.
This includes additional family members such as siblings (I am unable to work with multiple members from the same family).
I work with people aged over 11 years old from all walks of life and backgrounds, who come to me with a diverse range of struggles.
As a counsellor, I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics.
My first session
For adults, we will book in an initial assessment, which lasts 1 hour at a cost of £50.
This allows me to gather some information around your hopes and needs, while providing an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. After which we would commence weekly counselling sessions at a cost of £65 per 50 minute session.
For clients aged 11- 16 years old, I will arrange a free phone call with the primary care giver to gather some background information, to explain confidentiality and what to expect while the young person is in therapy. After which I will book in an initial assessment with them, which lasts 1 hour at a cost of £50.
At the end of their initial assessment they will be offered 3 options:
To begin therapy
To take time to think about it
or
Not to commence counselling.
It is important that they are offered this choice.

About me and my therapy practice

Are you neurodivergent or would describe yourself as feeling different?
If you feel how your brain works is affecting your enjoyment of life, or if neurodiversity causes communication or relationship challenges. Equally, if you wish to have counselling with a therapist who has an understanding of diversity of thinking and experiencing emotions and living please get in touch.
I offer therapy and counselling for young people and adults who consider themselves part of the neurodivergent / neurodiverse community.
Living with biological/ neurological differences can impact on anyone's ability to thrive in a neurotypical society.
You do not need to have a diagnosis, or for neurodiversity to be the focus for us to work together.
(You also do not need to have any involvement with adoption to access this support, despite my email address and website name.)
Practice description
My aim is to support you using the language which feels right individually for you.
You do not need a formal diagnosis to access counselling, instead we will work together on whatever brings you to therapy.
I work with people from varied backgrounds, with different neurological/ biological conditions, attending therapy to explore a diverse range of problems.
Some examples of neurodivergence in clients attending therapy include: Autism (ASC), Attention Deficit, Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Dyscalculia, Tourette's Syndrome and Dyslexia.
Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns or to book an initial assessment.
Life can be challenging at times, and relationships complicated. Counselling is a space where you can explore without judgement, with someone accepting of diversity and difference in how we experience the world and each other.
Having a regular time each week helps to settle into the process and provides consistency, we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you and learn together the best ways for you to access therapy, using the language and tools which feel helpful.
I will not make assumptions about your hopes and goals and instead I will listen and together we can plan how counselling and therapy can help you reach them.
Counselling differs from other professions such as a life coach in that it is not advice giving. However I can support you to make practical changes you wish for if that is your hope.
My first session
For adults:
- Firstly please get in contact with me, feel free to ask any questions you may have at this stage.
- Our next step will be to ensure we both have a day and time we can meet weekly together.
- Following this we will book in your initial assessment, where I collect some basic information and we discuss your hopes for counselling.
- After this we will book in your first session and meet weekly thereafter.
For young people:
- Firstly, we will check to see if we have matching availability on a weekly basis.
(For young people aged over 16, we will arrange an initial assessment between them and I at this point, unless you have any specific concerns.)
- For those under 16, once I have your details we will arrange a suitable time to speak on the phone.
During this call I will gather some basic information about your child and their needs and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
- Next we will arrange an initial assessment for them, during which they can explain their wishes and needs, I can ask some further questions and they can see if they feel I am a good fit.
At the end of their initial assessment they will be offered 3 options:
- To begin therapy.
- To take time to think about it.
- Not to commence counselling.
