About me and my therapy practice
I have more than fourteen years’ experience of counselling, working with people who may be finding life difficult in one way or another and are wanting to find a better way forwards for themselves.
My approach is to work in a holistic or integrative way. Depending on what is brought to counselling we may explore practical Cognitive Behavioural “tools” to help shift unhelpful thought patterns. In addition, where the past impacts significantly on the present, this can be looked at. My approach is adapted according to the person that I am working with and the issues that are brought and this may also include an exploration of the spiritual dimension where that is what is wanted.
I have worked with people who have had a range of concerns including anger, abuse, anxiety, bereavement, depression, identity, pregnancy crisis, relationship issues, self-esteem, self-harm, spiritual abuse and stress amongst others. I have worked in three Counselling Centres around the country, with adults of all ages, and also previously have had experience of working with teenagers in a school setting. In addition I have worked in private practice and have provided Employee Accessibility Provision of Counselling for a range of employers. Conducting debriefing work has also been part of my experience.
I am MBACP Senior Accredited, and work to their Ethical framework and currently work via video conferencing.

About me and my therapy practice
I seek to provide a safe space for supervision where positive work can be celebrated and encouragement can be given, for trainees, as well as more experienced counsellors. I also aim to provide an environment where the challenges of counselling practice can be looked at in order to find a helpful way forward. Encouraging the counsellor’s growth and their exploration of new approaches to counselling is important to me and I would sometimes use creative work as well. The spiritual dimension of the work is an area I am willing to explore with the supervisee as appropriate for the client.
I bring a range of experience through working with adults in short and long-term work in three counselling centres around the country, as well as in private practice. While working in the latter I have provided counselling for a wide range of issues, sometimes through Employee Accessibility Provision of counselling. Debriefing for two agencies has been another aspect of my practice. In addition, I have had five years of experience in a school setting as well as private practice work with teenagers. This breadth of experience of counselling helps to inform my supervisory work. In addition my Integrative approach to counselling and wider training means that I am happy to work with supervisees who have different approaches to counselling.
I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor and have a Diploma in Counselling Supervision so the maintenance of the BACP Ethical framework is also important to me.
An initial meeting can help us to explore working together.
Practice description
I base my supervision of counselling on Inskipp and Proctor's approach to supervision which incorporates maintaining ethical standards, providing input as required but also the encouragement and restoration that is needed as supervisees. The amount of time given to each aspect will vary according to the experience of the supervisee e.g. whether you are a trainee or a more experienced counsellor.
I am currently working face-to-face as well as through video conferencing .
My first session
This will be a chance to meet, to explore further how we would work together and agree some of the practicalities of the supervision sessions as well.
