About me and my therapy practice

I work in a collaborative way and consider the rapport between myself and my clients to be the foundation of our work together.

I honour the intrinsic worth and dignity of all of my clients.

My theoretical model is Integrative which means I use several models. (Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, CBT) to help me deepen my understanding of my clients history and experience and it's impact on them in the here and now. I am also trained to work with faith if that is something that clients request.

I work in a congruent way with what is happening in the here and now with my clients as we work together. This helps us both become more self-aware. My way of working is empathic and offers gentle challenge when it is the right moment.

We work on the issues that the clients choose whether this is something from the past or in the present.

We have regular reviews to ensure that clients are getting the best benefit from their sessions.

Sessions take place weekly on a regular day and time.

Practice description

I encourage potential clients to give me a call for a brief conversation (free). This gives us a chance to consider if we feel that it would be helpful to have an initial appointment. If I am not the right Counsellor, I will endeavour to signpost them to a colleague that I think might be more suitable.

Should we book an initial appointment, there is no obligation to continue after the first session. I recognise how much courage it takes to consider asking for professional support.  I ensure that I pace my work carefully and let clients know that they can tell me if they are not finding the counselling helpful.

My first session

The first appointment is an opportunity for us to meet.  I will take a formal assessment of your background history and the difficulties which you would like some professional support with.

There is no obligation to continue after the initial appointment. Should we both decide to proceed I will book you a regular weekly appointment on the same day and time.

There is an opportunity to ask me any questions that will help you make your decision.
