About me and my therapy practice

I am qualified at a Diploma level and a Registered Member of the BACP, as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist in private practice since 2008.

I am also in current an accredited training as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT) at a Master's of Science Level since 2022.

As a highly experienced psychotherapist, I have offer treatment  sessions  through my private practice both in Manchester and Calderdale as face to face and online.

I have gained over four hundred hours of client based clinically supervised psychotherapy hours, through private practice and a multitude of the agencies.

Integrating  the model of therapy to fit my clients, has enabled people to clearly structure their treatment in a way which empowers, enable change and live the life they want. Compassion and a non judgmental approach as the cornerstones of the treatment.

I have dedicated my life to learning ways to support people to reduce their distress and confidence to end their suffering, by focusing on mood and anxiety disorders.

I have a specialist interest in Trauma Informed models of therapy including Complex Trauma and  PTSD, with experience in delivering treatment according to NICE guidance for the  treatments of Depression, OCD, General Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Specific Phobias  and Health Anxiety.

I am an experienced group facilitator for adults  and young people offering  Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),  Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, within various charities across the North West.

I also offer a children's and young peoples psychotherapy sessions within schools, colleges and offer a specialist psychotherapy for neurodivergent children and young people with ADHD, ADD and ASD. I am registered member of The Association for Children and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH).

I encourage the participation  of carers, family member and partners where there is therapeutic benefit for the individual.

Practice description

As an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist since 2008, I have been able to draw from a holistic approach to therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools of thought, depending on the unique needs of my clients.

I have chosen to specialise within my current post-qualifying training in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy, as this provides the opportunity to form a sense of structure within the sessions and my client has reported this has helped them immensely to make sense of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, in order to be able to move forward and make personal changes.

All treatment sessions and is informed by the NICE guidelines for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. I am able to offer a comprehensive clinical assessment and  evidenced based treatment in line with this recommendations, for everyone with a recorded diagnosis of social phobia, specific phobia, agoraphobia, health anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, general anxiety disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder.

My work is trauma-informed, which essentially means I am able to support my clients by following principles such as: understanding how trauma can affect people, including how mental health problems can be reactions to trauma. By asking sensitively about past trauma, and offering appropriate support, you chose if and how much you feel the need to disclose.

My first session

The initial session is characterised by compassion and an opportunity to be seen and your story heard.

I offer the space to discover if this therapy approach and if our relationship can grow and meet your expectations and goals.

You have the courage to get so far, so the initial session of therapy may offer you the first step towards healing, and knowing this is possible may even improve your well-being. I would hope that you leave the session learning more about yourself and the treatment.

We will complete the initial contracts and measurement forms and I will begin taking some information about your existing problems, this may be in a form of a brief or extended clinical assessment, depending on your therapeutic needs and can be discussed with you at the start of the session. I will also provide you with some literature /links with information on the themes of the session.

At the end of the session we can discuss if there therapy is something you would find helpful and make and a therapy agreement and look at goals and expectations.
