About me and my therapy practice
If you are reading this, you might be dealing with some difficult feelings, or trying to manage a challenging experience that you are unable to talk to others about. You might be wondering if what you are experiencing is something that you can take to counselling, or be unsure what counselling will involve. This is something that we can think about together, if you would find it helpful. You may have been for counselling in the past, or you might be considering it for the first time. Either way, I can assure you a safe and confidential space, in which to explore what you are experiencing and what you would like to think about.
I completed a three year BACP accredited diploma in psychodynamic counselling, seventeen years ago. Since qualifying, I have worked for two counselling charities, both of which offer accessible and affordable counselling to their local community. I continue to work for one of these charities, as well as offer private counselling. I hold a certificate in counselling young people, specifically 16-18 year olds, as well as a certificate in short term therapy.
I am a registered member of the BACP, whose Ethical Framework is inherent in my approach. Psychodynamic counselling considers how past experiences and relationships, particularly during childhood, may be influencing current behaviour, situations, and how you respond to them. You might not be aware of your patterns of behaviour, or understand why you respond the way you do. This is where the counselling process can offer you an opportunity to take the time to explore what you are experiencing, give you a space to reflect, and the potential to work towards thinking differently about yourself, or about what it is you are trying to cope with.
Practice description
The counselling process is individual, and exploring difficult thoughts, feelings, or experiences may take time. This is why I offer open-ended counselling, as well as short term therapy. Not only does this provide the opportunity to reflect and explore at your pace, the sessions can either be there for as long as you would like them to be, or within a set time frame. All sessions will be treated with the strictest confidence.
I offer sessions to adults, as well as 16-18 year olds. The sessions I offer are weekly, at the same time, on the same day, to provide a consistent, contained space for each client. I aim to give at least three weeks notice of any planned breaks. I offer face-to-face sessions, as well as considering requests for online counselling. Whether open-ended, or short-term counselling, I encourage and support a client-led approach, which allows you to bring whatever you want to discuss with me, even if that might feel difficult or challenging.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet each other, for me to understand from you what has brought you to counselling, and for you to get an indication of whether you would like to continue to work with me. This is no obligation to continue, if you attend the initial session.
If you would like to contact me to arrange a first session, either give me a call, on 07887 637939, or email me - enquiries@allycurrycounselling.co.uk

About me and my therapy practice
If you are reading this, you might be looking for a supervisor for the first time, or you might be considering a different supervisor, to vary your experience, due to a change in your work circumstances. Either way, I believe that supervision is essential not only to support you with your client work, but in your ongoing development as a practitioner. Let me tell you a bit about myself, so that you can decide whether how I work, is what you might be looking for in a supervisor.
I hold a diploma in clinical supervision, as well as being I psychodynamically-trained counsellor, having completed a three year BACP accredited course, seventeen years ago. I have supervised trainees, both psychodynamic, as well as integrative students. I also supervise qualified, experienced counsellors.
In addition to offering private supervision, I work as a supervisor and counsellor for a charity offering affordable, accessible counselling to the local community. I supervise groups which include qualified and trainee counsellors working together, to encourage learning for all, through varied levels of experience.
Practice description
I offer individual, as well as group, supervision, which can be face-to-face, or online, via Zoom. I am keen to facilitate an opportunity for you to work on your ongoing development, in addition to discussing your client work. I encourage a relational approach in the supervision space, where we can think and explore how we work together. If this is something you are able to consider for yourself, it might support you in creating a correlative space for you and your clients.
The fee for an individual 1 hour session is £60. Group fees are negotiable, depending on group size, up to a maximum of four per group. Session frequency beyond monthly, is dependent on your individual requirements, which can be agreed during the first session.
My first session
A initial session is an opportunity for us to meet, and for you to let me know what you are looking for, to support you and your clients. If you decide you would like to consider supervision with me, we will discuss contracting details, so that we are both aware of what to expect from each other in our work together.
We can meet in person, or online, via Zoom.
If you would like to contact me to arrange a first session, either call me on 07887 637939, or email me:
