Hi, my name is Hanneke and I offer counselling, EMDR and clinical supervision.  Over 3 decades of experience as a therapist, trainer and supervisor have taught me that in Obama's words: 'Change is never easy but always possible'.

Finding a therapist can be a daunting task and can feel overwhelming. The purpose of this website is to tell you a little about me and my counselling practice so that you can make an informed choice whether you may wish to work with me to bring about positive changes in your life.

Over the past decades people have contacted me for help with all sorts of issues:

• You may be going through a separation or divorce

• Difficulties in your relationship with partner or children

• You may need help in adjusting your life after an injury or illness

• The death of a loved one may be causing you distress

• Problems at work

• Issues around sexuality or sexual identity

• Something left over from the past may still be troubling you

• It may be none of the above, perhaps you feel anxious, worried, depressed or are experiencing panic attacks without being able to pinpoint the cause.

You may find yourself resorting to alcohol, smoking or drugs for support or be concerned about irregular eating patterns

I have over 3 decades of experience of working in mental health, therapy, counselling training and supervision.

In a safe, tranquil and comfortable space I now offer confidential one to one counselling, couple therapy, supervisory consultation and anxiety management groups. My practice is located a 20 minute walk from West Wickham railway station or a short bus-ride on the number 119 from Bromley centre.  Parking in the street available.

Over the past 2 decades I have had the privilege of training and supporting many trainee therapists and qualified practitioners. I have been a supervisor in the NHS and in further and higher education. I hold a Certificate in Supervision with the Metanoia Institute and advanced supervision skills certificate with the BPF. I am an accredited supervisor of individuals with the BACP and also have experience in group supervision.

In a safe and confidential setting in my private practice in Shortlands, Kent I now offer one to one and group supervision. Fees are £60 per 50 minute session and I am able to offer video conferencing supervision via Zoom for the same fee.  My practice is within an osteopath clinic and is easily accessible by train (5 minutes walk from Shortlands station) and by car.  There is usually free parking available nearby.  Please visit my website hannekecounselling.co.uk for further info.

My approach to supervision:

• Sessions will be facilitative, interactive and supportive

• Supervisees will be encouraged to express emotions and to be reflective

• Sessions aim to provide a space for thinking, gaining of insight and creativity

• Supervisees will be empowered by clear and constructive feedback in order to enhance their continuing development

• Regular two-way feedback is encouraged and supervisory relationship issues are openly addressed

• Professional boundaries are adhered to

• Sessions are tailored to each supervisee’s individual needs regarding core theoretical frameworks

Choosing a new supervisor is a challenging process. I provide a free 30-minute face to face consultation in which you can meet me in my clinical setting to discuss how we may work together. This consultation is an opportunity to check out your supervision requirements and expectations and would give you some insight into my supervisory style.
