About me and my therapy practice

I have been a therapist for 25 years and I am a BACP Accredited Therapist and an Accredited Coach. I help people Release their Trauma Imprints, Stop Repeating Old Patterns & Regenerate Their Lives and careers..

The wounds of the past can keep showing up in our present. Trauma imprints can shape our personalities and negatively impact our potential. Identifying what happens inside you as a result of what you experienced is key to recovering from trauma. I can work with the impact of your trauma without knowing the specifics of the traumatic events to avoid re-traumatising you.

Trauma can happen at any point in our lives. When experiencing a Trauma Trigger, our body is reacting to the present moment but also to the memory of past unsafeness, danger and wounding. All of these can be stored in our body and nervous system. The effects of an unprocessed, unhealed emotional injury can show up in our every day as; anxiety, low mood, depression, OCD, panic attacks, addictions, toxic relationships or feeling disconnected.

When we become conscious (aware) of that which has previously been unconscious (out of our awareness), we can stop living on survival mode, and really get in the driving seat of our own lives. Just as important is helping the brain and body to know that the trauma has passed. The impact can become stored in the body and the brain circuitry relating to the trauma can keep firing as if the trauma is happening in the present moment.

I provide a supportive and warm space to ‘untangle the threads’ of what is happening for you. So you can find a way through and out the other side.

All of us will struggle at some time in our lives & that is when we need a safe, nurturing space to figure it out so we can heal.

If you are reading this you are someone seeking solutions and transformation.

The truth is that the same thinking, beliefs and behaviours created by the trauma, will NOT solve it and that is where I come in to guide and accompany you to where you need to be.

Practice description

I work with clients experiencing Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which involves symptoms of psychological and behavioural stress responses, such as flashbacks, hyper-vigilance and efforts to avoid distressing reminders of the traumatic event(s). I also work with Complex PTSD, which is a type of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) caused by chronic, long lasting, or repeated traumatic events. E.g. childhood abuse, trauma or neglect.

Emotional dysregulation caused by trauma can affect every area of our lives. Identifying your trauma triggers and developing emotional awareness is key, to start building emotionally resilient.

Equally, traumatic experiences can trigger our nervous system. It controls our stress responses; tipping us into Fight, Flight, Freeze or Fawn even when we are actually safe. This is why recovery also requires somatic element. The body, brain and nervous system need to know that the threat is over. We also need to reset an individual’s Threat Perception, Self- Sensing and Filtering of information to ensure a deep and lasting recovery.

I have found that the somatic tool of tapping (EFT), combined with traditional therapy has a profound effect on healing to allow a client to move beyond the trauma and dissolve Trauma Triggers, at last releasing the impact of past traumas.

I use Transactional Analysis with Psychodynamic and Attachment approaches. Additionally, I Poly vagal exercises to help with emotional regulation and re-establishing a sense of safety inside.

This is about mastering ourselves fully; healing the imprint of trauma wounds and renewing ourselves with new beliefs and behaviours, that harness our full potential.

Learning to soothe and regulate yourself is paramount and finding ways to met any unmet needs for the past.

Our past can keep presenting itself in our present, which means that we can be regularly re-traumatised. This is why it is so important to repair so we can stop repeating old self-defeating trauma responses.

My first session

I offer a 45 minute consultation call on zoom, which is free of charge. During the call we can talk about what you want to achieve from therapy and think about how I can best support you in that.

The call is also an opportunity for you to consider if I'm the best person for you.

Along with exploring why you are seeking therapy we might also consider any underlying factors such as;

  • Anxiety: I specialise in supporting people with high levels of anxiety, stress, or performance anxiety, who live feeling fearful. Many of us can be deeply influenced by our wounds from the past and our fears for the future.

  • Depression: I help people who experience feeling down with a low mood, lack of motivation and interest, exhaustion, or lack of focus.

  • Lack of Self-Worth: I support people struggling with a lack of self-worth who in some way do not feel ‘good enough’. Perhaps feeling like they are not ‘good enough’; in their relationships, in their work or career, or as a mum. I encourage clients to challenge and up-date their old beliefs about themselves, to remove blocks and and dissolve limitations.

  • Trauma: If your trauma originated in childhood I can help you to move on from difficult beginnings, by releasing the impact of trauma imprints. Trauma is not always what we think some forms of trauma can be more subtle.

  • Addiction: Can be a way of numbing the impact of trauma, and suppressing feelings. Many forms of addition can have trauma at their root.

  • Self Harm

  • Emotional Dysregulation: Can make living feel scary and difficult.Trauma can result in us being hyper vigilant and our Nervous System being stuck in “Fight, Flight, Freeze or Fawn”. Then, concentrating, or stating our needs and sleeping can be severely impaired.

Above all, you need to be compassionate to yourself. The impact of trauma imprints is not your fault. You have done your very best to cope with truly difficult experiences that have been too distressing or too big to process.

There is a way forward to freedom.
