About me and my therapy practice
Hello my name is Suzanne Houston I am a BACP accredited counsellor working in private practice. My aim is to offer you a confidential therapeutic service, where you can talk through concerns in a calm environment that is non judgemental, caring and respectful. My philosophy is not to give advice or tell you what to do, but to offer autonomy and choice, helping you to find the solution that bests suits you. I believe that it is our working relationship that is most important in helping you work through what has brought you to counselling. I am committed and passionate about offering a secure and accepting space for you to explore your feelings without judgement. I live in a quiet village and thecounselling room I work in is confidential, warm and welcoming.
I have lots of experience working with adults, couples, families, young people and children ,often using creative play in my children's work. I work short or longer term depending on your needs.I am passionate about working in a systemic way whilst offering a person centred approach. I believe working systemically helps to uncover the ways in which members communicate and behave within a system based on beliefs about their respective roles.
Practice description
I am a accredited counsellor who has worked in the social care and education sector for several years. I have lots of experience working as a school counsellor in secondary and primary schools and I have worked as a counsellor for Relate and other charitable trusts. I have a BSc (Hons) in Integrative and Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and I trained at the Sherwood Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy in Nottingham. I have retained a Post Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice accredited through AFT.
I charge £50 for an individual session, £65 for each session working with a couple and £75 per session working with a family.
I also offer school and private practice therapeutic creative group sessions for children and young people who might want to talk about issues such as friendship issues, loss, bereavement or confidence building in a confidential group setting.
Currently I am offering zoom sessions and face to face work, working inline with BACP and government guidelines in relation to COVID19.
