About me and my therapy practice
Are you currently battling with difficulties in your life, or struggling to cope?
There are times in our lives when we can all benefit from having a space to talk and be heard. Talking gives you the chance to explore your thoughts and to try to find the best way forward.
Over the last few years, I have become increasingly aware of how the stories we tell ourselves can often hold us back, and stop us from fully engaging with life. I have explored what these patterns might mean, and where and when they might have begun. Once hidden patterns are uncovered, they can often begin to lose their charge, and you, as the client, can begin to have a choice as to whether to keep things as they are, or to change them. I will often work creatively using dreams, images or pictures that you may care to bring. In this way, it gives you the chance to see what might lie beneath the surface. Emotional pain and anxiety can often stem from experiences that happened earlier in life. In our sessions together, we can explore these connections and uncover the meanings they hold for you in your present situation.
Counselling offers a supportive environment in which your challenges can be aired and explored. I regard myself as a fellow traveller who can accompany you on your journey.
Practice description
I am aware that the success of any counselling experience relies on the connection which is built between you and your counsellor. Therefore it is important that you feel comfortable to be able to talk. To that end, I am happy to offer a short pre-arranged 20 minute telephone session to explore whether we could gainfully work together.
I offer both short-term counselling, and longer more open-ended work. In this present pandemic, I can only see clients remotely, either by phone or online, but intend to resume face-to-face work, should this be desired, once this current situation resolves.
I am experienced in working with a wide variety of issues, in particular, bereavement and loss, having been a counsellor and supervisor for the bereavement charity CRUSE for many years, and more recently at MIND, working with clients suffering from anxiety, depression and other related mental health problems.
I am an empathic, non-judgemental, caring person, and hope to be able to assist you in resolving whatever issues may be troubling you, and to help you find a different, healthier perspective.
