About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Polly and I am an experienced BACP accredited counsellor currently working in private practice in Oxford.  I qualified as a person-centred counsellor in 2010.   I have several years experience working face to face in NHS Primary Care as a counsellor in GP Practices.  I was a Cruse Bereavement Volunteer for five years and have also worked as a volunteer qualified counsellor in a College of Further Education.

I am a Registered Accredited Member of British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I am committed to their Ethical Framework and my continuing professional development.

Practice description

Counselling sessions are generally weekly.  All sessions are one hour long.

As a person centred therapist I aim to build a trusting, honest, non-judgemental relationship in which I am guided by you and the issues you bring to explore your inner world with you.  I work alongside you with respect, empathy and honesty.

My first session

I understand the courage and effort it can take to initially make contact with a counsellor.  We can arrange a telephone call to talk through counselling and the possibility of us working together prior to booking an initial appointment with me.

The first appointment is an assessment appointment - this is when I gather information from you,  to listen and hear what brings you to counselling now and to understand what you hope to get from counselling. There is no commitment to return after the initial assessment and you are not obliged to decide during that appointment if you wish to work with me.

It is important for you to consider and reflect afterwards if I am the right counsellor for you and also for me to be sure that my experience and skills best meet your needs.
