About me and my therapy practice
An Integrative counsellor with a public sector management and leadership background. My areas of practice are 1-1 counselling, transcultural counselling, organisational / employee counselling, debriefing teams post incidents & complaints as well as counselling counsellors in training.
------------------------------------------------
With a specialist interest and experience in "wellbeing in the workplace", I combine a range of counselling and coaching interventions and techniques to help employees develop resilience in the workplace.
This enables employees to overcome difficult workplace experiences which can interfere with thriving in the workplace, maintaining mental wellbeing and confidence.
-------------------------------------------
I support organisations with understanding the importance of supporting employees with developing and sustaining mental wellbeing in the workplace in order to reduce compassion fatigue and boost productivity.
----------------------------------------
I provide 1-1 counselling for individuals who want to explore challenges they might be facing in life and are seeking to manage or resolve internal conflicts that result from such challenges.
In particular, I work with all victims of workplace bullying but also help senior leaders and managers with overcoming experiences of being bullied at work.
-----------------------------------------------
I work with counsellors in training to explore the impact of counselling training and their transition journey from studying to becoming counsellors.

My first session
The first session is a no obligation 30 minute assessment session.
Both potential clients and I: discuss the possibility of working together, we briefly explore the presenting issues which led them to seek counselling and how we might work together, should they wish to proceed with further sessions.
I use the assessment session to encourage clients to:
1. ask as many questions about my practice as they might want to 2. use the assessment session to reflect on the outcomes they are looking for from counselling
and
3. gather as much information about counselling in general as possible.

Availability
I provide a flexible supervision practice which accommodates the diverse range of needs of supervisees.
In particular, I always have spaces reserved for:
- students on courses who may be having difficulties with locating supervisors at short notice
- "out of hours" supervision
- supervisees transitioning from "training to private practice"
- supervisees seeking "one-off" appointments to explore "burning issues"
- supervisees experiencing difficulties at work.
Although I provide face-to-face supervision as and when required, most of my work is done virtually, online, so I work with supervisees based anywhere in the world.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced integrative supervisor and counsellor with 26+ years of experience in leading healthcare functions and supervising staff from various professional backgrounds.
These include but are not limited to professions such as: counselling, social work, teaching, complaints management, patient advice and liaison services, other NHS support services and more.
My approach to providing supervision is one that encourages regular 360 degrees reviews of how you practice as a professional. Overall, I create a conducive non-judgemental environment that:
• encourages you to uphold the values of “quality” in the helping/caring professions and deliver your best always
• is supportive and enables you to learn and grow as a professional from every encounter you have with your clients and your supervision experience
• coaches you to integrate into your practice the richness that understanding and working with “difference” brings to the therapy profession and your clients’ experiences
• enables learning by enquiry and curiosity as a professional.
Practice description
My approach to providing supervision is reflective, reflexive, empowering and enabling.
I create a safe space for supervisees to capitalise on existing knowledge and experiences and acquire new insights into any personal or professional development issues.
I gently challenge supervisees' practice where necessary to:
- encourage deeper exploration of the material presented
- help with stretching your awareness
- facilitate your growth as a supervisee.
Although my theoretical background is integrative, I believe strongly in person-centred modalities that put "people" at the centre of the work we do in the counselling and psychotherapy profession.
Therefore, as a supervisee, your experiences matter and form a key part of the work we do together. I create a safe space where any difficulties you may be experiencing in your work, or your growth can be explored without fear of judgement or reprisal.
Whilst I always like to hear of the pieces of work you are proud of and enjoy celebrating these with you, I also acknowledge that sometimes "experiences at work" may not always be as positive as we may wish them to be.
I am particular about providing a safe space to discuss, explore, resolve and grow positively out of such experiences, so your practice is not inhibited by any confidence issues that can arise from such situations.
Overall, I do not consider myself to be the 'expert' in our relationship, but I have found that a collaborative approach to working alongside supervisees boosts professional confidence.
My first session
My first session with supervisees is a free 15-minute pre -assessment session, where we discuss how we can work together.
