About me and my therapy practice
I work with adults and couples providing a comfortable, safe space to explore what is troubling you. I offer an initial 20 minute telephone or Zoom consultation free of charge to determine what you are finding difficult and what you would like from therapy. I am creative and collaborative in my approach and will discuss how I might be able to work with you to best suit your needs. After this initial conversation we can both decide if we are suitable to work together.
I have 2 private parking spaces and a wheelchair ramp leading to my therapy room providing ease of access.
In couples work I see my role as facilitating what becomes hopefully a richer communication between you both. I don't take sides, I listen without judgement to what each have to say about how they feel about their situation. This can then lead to an exploration of how you might wish to move forwards, even if that feels like an impossibility. I work with all kinds of couples, of all sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious background and this might even mean siblings, father/daughter, mother/son for example. I do not see more than 2 people.
Working with adults one to one, I help you to look at your challenges, source of distress, future personal goals and relationships. Our therapeutic relationship is key in helping to unblock areas in your life that may feel stuck or painful. By gaining a deeper self-awareness, therapy can guide you to consider new ways of thinking and feeling about a situation and can be quite life-changing.
I work with both short and long-term clients, offering face to face, and video call sessions as most appropriate to your needs.
Practice description
You can expect me to be considerate and reliable. I will always endeavour to discuss my availability with plenty of notice where practically possible and I expect the same consideration and commitment from my clients so that we can plan our diaries ahead together.
My first session
My first session will be a thorough assessment looking at your overall health and wellbeing, family history and relationship history. In some cases this assessment might need to continue in to our next session until a full enough picture has been obtained in order to determine how we might best tackle issues presenting for you. I therefore will be taking notes until that is complete. If for any reason I discover I do not have the right set of skills to best support you then I will do my best to discuss and refer you on to someone who is.
