Hi there, i have a few online spaces available, thank you.

Please contact me on +44 07525 456544 or email me on johnnie@eastkenttherapy.co.uk

I offer online trauma-focused therapies including Internal Family Systems' therapy and EMDR and attachment focused EMDR.

I have some evening appointments coming up.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi I offer an online counselling and psychotherapy service embracing modern trauma-focused therapies to help you heal yourself from past and present emotional and psychological problems.

In a friendly way, we can work together to promote and restore your health and well-being. I utilise a combination of modern trauma therapies called EMDR (eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing) and IFS (Internal Family Systems' therapy).

Arguably this is the most modern approach to healing your mental and physical health - as seeing therapy as a treatment and recovery from trauma or wounds in your mind and body.

There is an undeniable link between stress, trauma and our health. Individuals with a history of trauma are more likely to develop chronic illness and pain conditions.

You might also have deep problematic emotional and relationship problems, which are difficult to resolve and difficult to understand. Internal Family Systems' helps us find a way to connect with traumatised parts of you ie depressed or anxious parts, panicky parts, frozen and lost parts.

This is a good treatment for complex PTSD, and complex trauma and also more routine trauma from a RTA or adverse incident. Or you may have suffered from abuse, bullying, neglect and perhaps abandonment.

I have a specialism in working with codependency (where you abandon yourself to please others) and managing symptoms resulting from narcissistic abuse and abusive relationships.

As Dr Bessel van der Kolk aptly says, "The body keeps the score" and we cannot simply talk or think our way out of traumatic stress. Therapy requires some engagement with your body and your emotional life.

Indeed, author and physician Gabor Mäté adds: “All of the diagnoses that you deal with - depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar illness, post traumatic stress disorder, even psychosis, are significantly rooted in trauma."

Thank you and hope to hear from you.

Practice description

I’m best described as a trauma-informed therapist and counsellor. I’ll do my best to help you with any emotional, psychological and health problems.

I integrate two trauma therapies called EMDR and Internal Family systems' therapy and add some somatic techniques to help you process out burdens in your nervous system.

I have worked for 22 years in the NHS in acute and general health settings and GP surgeries, offering talk therapy, using various approaches. I've had postgraduate training at Kings College and the Institute of Psychiatry.

I'm registered with the UK's EMDR Association and offer EMDR (eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing) therapy for traumatic memories.

Also, I’ve completed the IFS Institute trainings (1 and 2) in Internal Family Systems therapy. This is also a very good trauma-informed therapy.

Indeed IFS with EMDR can be used for any symptom that’s bothering you - anxiety, depression, intrusive worry, panic, OCD and relationship issues, stress, migraines, chronic pain, flashbacks.

Modern use of IFS with EMDR allows us to process many wounded parts of your life, background and history, to heal and resolve their burdens.

My first session

I can offer a free Zoom session, which takes from 30-50 minutes.

If you are coming for trauma work and transferring  from another therapist, i will still have to assess and stablise you in preparation for EMDR.

We normally begin with some assessment and history and some background information related to what you are presenting with.

You can also text me confidentially on 07525 456544 and i will get back to you. Thank you.
